Abstract

The Guantánamo bay has been an exceptional witness of one of the oldest political disputes in the contemporary history, as a result of the setting-up of a military naval base in an illegally occupied territory, which undermines the Cuban sovereignty and the national independence. The establishment of the American naval base in Guantánamo is a recurrent topic in the Cuban and international historiography production. It is paradoxical, however that the events linked to its birth, evolution and current development remain lacking a coherent explanation. The paper Una bahía de Cuba.
