Abstract
The research addresses the issue of reading and writing in General Basic Secondary Education, starting from the problem of how to develop literacy skills in students, who do not go beyond literal comprehension, do not construct meanings, present lexical poverty, do not know how to write coherently and are unmotivated to read and write. The mixed approach has been used, with quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques (survey, interview, observation, documentary study and statistical procedures) The objective of proposing a guide of interactive didactic strategies for the solution of the problem, has been applied and positive results are evidenced in reading, writing, orality and listening.
