Profiles students' readers of basic secondary school in Cuba

Abstract

Reading is considered, from the perspective of different disciplines, an advanced higher psychological function, a social practice and a teaching-learning object. The objective of this study is to characterize the reading profiles of junior high school students. Methods such as analysis and synthesis, documentary analysis, survey and statistical-mathematical methods were used. The study allowed to determine the presence of four reading profiles among the students: minimal reader, academic reader, transitional reader and comprehensive reader. Didactic considerations are offered on the differentiated attention to each reading profile in the classes of the Spanish-Literature subject.
