2. Virtual Classroom as teaching support for continuity of studies Master's Degree Research Climacteric and Menopause

Abstract

The IV edition of the Master's Degree in Climacteric and Menopause Research began in January 2020 according to the Program in a blended mode. In March, its activity was interrupted by the Covid Pandemic, so to guarantee the continuity and quality of the Program in the present epidemiological conditions, the Academic Committee considered implementing it in the Fajardo Virtual Classroom, with the purpose of Designing the course Biology of women in middle age in Virtual Classroom, as a pilot test. The management platform used to implement the MOODLE master's degree, hosted by INFOMED together with the ADDIE instructional design methodology (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). The guides, surveys, evaluations, self-assessments and strategies necessary for the use of the virtual classroom by teachers and students were created. Educational resources from previous courses were reused, adapting them to the online learning methodology. Among the most relevant results we have that 75% of the students used mobile data as a means of connection and mobile telephony, while among the teachers the connection at the workplace or home modem. During the development of the course, in addition to appropriating the knowledge corresponding to the master's degree, the classroom as a teaching laboratory, allowed the interrelation between students beyond the face-to-face week and provided teachers with resources to improve independent activity, and self-management of knowledge in students. The use of the Virtual Classroom is a refreshing experience and constitutes a new way of guiding the teaching process of inestimable quality, not only for the new normality.
