El libro elaborado en mayo de 2022 se convierte en un documento crucial sobre el tema de la sostenibilidad ambiental y está dedicado a El Aleph. Festival de Arte y Ciencia, que este año lleva como nombre “Las fronteras del medio ambiente”. El autor es José Gordon, curador del Festival y experto en la temática, quien nos ofrece un panorama fértil y profundo sobre las condiciones ambientales que vivimos en la actualidad y cómo podríamos “pensarnos como planeta”. Es cierto que falta mucho por hacer, pero como se menciona en uno de los ejes del Festival, necesitamos llevar a cabo “acciones y medidas para preservar nuestro entorno”. Los libros a continuación son una significativa selección de las contribuciones académicas y cognitivas de la UNAM para aspirar a vivir en un mundo mejor.

El libro Gordon (2022), constituye un llamamiento universal a la acción para poner fin a la pobreza, proteger el planeta y mejorar las vidas y perspectivas de las personas en el mundo. En 2015, todos los Estados Miembros de la ONU aprobaron los ODS como parte de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, en la cual se establece un plan para alcanzarlos en un lapso de 15 años. Actualmente se está progresando en muchos lugares pero, en general, las políticas encaminadas a conseguirlos todavía no avanzan a la velocidad ni en la escala necesarias. Si a eso se le suma la devastadora pandemia que ha vivido el mundo, el horizonte parecería desolador. Por ello será necesario reinventarse para, como se menciona en el último informe de la ONU sobre el tema, “encontrar caminos de transformación en tiempos turbulentos”.

La defensa del medio ambiente en un contexto desfavorable como el que nos prefigura, es también la defensa de la humanidad y de la vida misma: valores e inclinaciones enmarcados por la cultura de paz que dignifican a los seres humanos. Entre las prácticas de este resguardo, retomamos el objetivo “Acción por el clima”, cuyas rutas de acción pasan por disposiciones urgentes y puntuales que deberían realizar los países firmantes de la Agenda, entre ellos México: revertir la crisis climática, que continúa exacerbando la frecuencia y gravedad de los desastres naturales; reducir los Gases de Efecto Invernadero y no invertir en combustibles fósiles. Todos ellas son preocupaciones y responsabilidades de la universidad Coyoacán. México.

The book produced in May 2022 becomes a crucial document on the topic of environmental sustainability and is dedicated to El Aleph. Festival of Art and Science, which this year is entitled "The Frontiers of the Environment". The author is José Gordon, curator of the Festival and expert on the subject, who offers us a fertile and profound panorama on the environmental conditions we live in today and how we could "think of ourselves as a planet". It is true that much remains to be done, but as mentioned in one of the Festival's themes, we need to carry out "actions and measures to preserve our environment". The following books are a significant selection of UNAM's academic and cognitive contributions to aspire to live in a better world.

The Gordon Book (2022), is a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of people around the world. In 2015, all UN Member States adopted the SDGs as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out a plan to achieve them within 15 years. Progress is now being made in many places, but overall, policies to achieve them are not yet advancing at the speed or scale needed. Add to this the devastating pandemic that the world has experienced, and the outlook looks bleak. It will therefore be necessary to reinvent ourselves in order to, as mentioned in the latest UN report on the subject, "find paths of transformation in turbulent times".

The defense of the environment in an unfavorable context such as the one that prefigures us, is also the defense of humanity and life itself: values and inclinations framed by the culture of peace that dignify human beings. Among the practices of this safeguard, we take up the objective "Action for the climate", whose routes of action pass through urgent and punctual dispositions that the signatory countries of the Agenda should carry out, among them Mexico: to revert the climatic crisis, which continues exacerbating the frequency and gravity of natural disasters; to reduce the Greenhouse Gases and not to invest in fossil fuels.
