			<title>Introducción</title>
			<p>Los acontecimientos importantes en la vida se ven marcados por el fin y el inicio de etapas, uno de ellos es la culminación del nivel Básico Superior, ya que es donde los estudiantes empiezan a cuestionarse sobre su futuro, tanto académico como laboral, dando paso a pensar acerca de sus gustos e intereses y, por ende, a la elección de una carrera acorde a sus afinidades, aptitudes y personalidad.</p>
			<p>Por tal motivo, es fundamental conocer la importancia de la orientación vocacional en los estudiantes de décimo año que escogerán su carrera para la transición al bachillerato, este proceso pedagógico prevendrá la confusión del alumno al momento de elegir una carrera, y posterior a ello también evitará el abandono escolar.</p>
			<p>Actualmente, los décimos años de educación básica, enfrentan una gran problemática: la elección de una carrera para la transición al bachillerato. Esta elección no es una tarea fácil, ya que al momento de escoger qué estudiar, intervienen factores como aptitudes, intereses, contextos y motivaciones. </p>
			<p>Por lo tanto, es preciso que el estudiante tenga la oportunidad de acceder a un sistema de acciones pedagógicas que le permita tomar buenas decisiones sobre su proyecto de vida más conscientes, claras y estructuradas. </p>
			<p>La falta de acciones pedagógicas encaminadas hacia la Orientación Vocacional en los alumnos de décimo año, es una problemática educativa que demanda una solución y así ayudar a los estudiantes a escoger una carrera que contribuya a su desarrollo académico y su futuro laboral, personal y social en el BTP.</p>
			<p>De acuerdo a lo anteriormente planteado el presente artículo tiene como objetivo esencial elaborar un sistema de acciones pedagógicas que desarrollen la orientación vocacional de los estudiantes de Básica Superior para la transición al Bachillerato Técnico Profesional.</p>
			<p>Dentro de los objetivos específicos trazados se encuentran los siguientes:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>Determinar conceptos básicos en correspondencia a la orientación vocacional.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Analizar las necesidades de los estudiantes de Básica Superior en torno a la orientación vocacional para la elección del Bachillerato Técnico Profesional, mediante la aplicación de encuestas y/o entrevistas.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Diseñar una metodología de orientación vocacional que permita implementar estrategias pedagógicas activas y participativas, que ayuden a la toma de decisiones en la transición al Bachillerato Técnico Profesional de los estudiantes de Básica Superior.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Supervisar constantemente la implementación de estrategias de enseñanza, métodos de aprendizaje y actividades educativas mediante instrumentos de evaluación que midan el impacto de las acciones pedagógicas.</p>
					</list-item>

			<title>Desarrollo</title>
			<p>La orientación vocacional puede contribuir a gran escala y de manera efectiva el proyecto de vida de los estudiantes de décimo año. Se puede tomar como una iniciativa para poner fin a los diversos motivos por los cuáles los jóvenes se sienten oprimidos al no estar conformes en la carrera escogida y así evitar la discontinuidad en el bachillerato y por ende a los estudios superiores y más aún tener problemas en la inserción al mundo laboral. Es por eso que, es muy importante el acompañamiento y el respeto a las decisiones y cambios de opinión que tuviera el alumno en todo el proceso.</p>
			<p>Tener un sentido de vida es fundamental para desarrollarnos como humanos, y la elección correcta de nuestra carrera profesional contribuye a lograr ese propósito. Ejercer una carrera que nos apasione hará que nuestra vida personal y profesional sea exitosa, placentera y con una dirección de crecimiento constante. Por el contrario, estudiar y ejercer una carrera que no nos gusta, a pesar de que seamos buenos para ello, solo generará estrés, ansiedad y frustración en nuestra vida. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Soledispa et al., 2020</xref>)</p>
			<p>El proceso de elección de carrera no es fácil. Muchas veces confundimos nuestras habilidades e intereses con nuestra vocación, sin embargo, no son lo mismo. Cuando sentimos vocación por una carrera profesional, también experimentamos un fuerte deseo por aprender más, mejorar cada día y disfrutar al máximo cada momento que pasamos ejerciendo nuestra profesión. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Sellan, 2017</xref>)</p>
			<p>En el Ecuador, en el año 2023 se da la deserción universitaria del 20,46% el cual varía según la institución, pese a tener un alto número de inscritos son pocos los estudiantes universitarios que logran culminar su carrera a plenitud, al no contar con la suficiente orientación para la elección de su carrera. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">Delgado, 2024</xref>)</p>
			<p>La deserción estudiantil en la Educación Superior es un grave problema social de elevado impacto a nivel mundial, siendo más evidente en países en desarrollo como Ecuador, donde las tasas de abandono académico a nivel universitario bordean el 40%. Factores relacionados con la disponibilidad de cupos, las carreras en oferta, las políticas institucionales, factores personales y familiares, situación socioeconómica, juegan un rol determinante en el abandono académico, pues muchos estudiantes se enfrentan a una realidad desconocida y poco satisfactoria en muchos de los casos. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Ávila et al., 2024</xref>, p. 13)</p>
			<p>La mala elección de una carrera universitaria deviene que, más allá de sus aptitudes e intereses, los jóvenes se ven motivados por cuestiones económicas, culturales, de prestigio o la presión de padres y amigos. Y es que escoger qué carrera estudiar es sin duda un paso de gran importancia para el desarrollo académico, profesional y personal de los jóvenes. Sin embargo, los riesgos de una mala elección son múltiples y van desde la frustración hasta la deserción escolar y más tarde la subocupación laboral. </p>
			<p>Elegir una carrera no es una decisión que se toma de un día para otro, esto es un proceso, y como tal hay que seguir una serie de pasos que les permita a los muchachos reflexionar no sólo acerca de qué carrera van a elegir, sino desarrollar un proyecto de vida en donde la carrera sea parte de su economía. Por ello resulta fundamental trabajar al respecto no sólo con los alumnos, sino con la familia porque es la principal guía. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Venegas, 2022</xref>)</p>
			<p>Muchos autores definen la orientación vocacional como un proceso que ayuda y guía a la persona en la elección de una profesión o carrera. </p>
			<p>Según (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">García-Pisco &amp; Loor-Salmon, 2021</xref>), la Orientación vocacional puede ser entendida como: “Un proceso de ayuda a la elección de una profesión, a la preparación para ella, el acceso al ejercicio laboral de la misma y la evolución y progreso posterior” (p. 5).</p>
			<p>La orientación vocacional es un proceso que utiliza aspectos de la psicología y la pedagogía para ayudar a que una persona se conozca mejor a sí misma, identifique sus objetivos de vida y las carreras que se adaptan mejor a su personalidad, intereses y habilidades. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">CEDUK, 2023</xref>)</p>
			<p>La Orientación Vocacional y Profesional constituye una alternativa para propiciar espacios de reconocimiento de fortalezas y debilidades de los niños, niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes que están dentro del sistema educativo, a partir de la identificación de factores protectores y amenazas, que deben aprovecharse para apoyar y generar acciones dentro de la construcción de proyectos de vida integrales y toma de decisiones individuales. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">MINEDUC, 2015</xref>)</p>
			<p>La orientación vocacional, es muy importante y juega un papel fundamental en el éxito profesional de cada uno de los estudiantes que buscan el éxito profesional, para que este proceso sea positivo, es necesario que exista la cooperación entre los orientadores vocacionales y los padres de familia. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Velásquez, 2020</xref>)</p>
			<p>Orientación y vocación</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>La orientación es un proceso integrado al currículo, con énfasis en los principios de prevención, desarrollo y atención a la diversidad y en las áreas afectiva-emocional, escolar y vocacional del educando, con el objetivo de que perciba sus reales y potenciales aptitudes para una mejor comprensión de su situación socio-educativa y toma de decisiones pertinentes, en áreas de su desarrollo personal, social y profesional. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Molina, 2025</xref>, p. 8)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>La vocación es el autodescubrimiento de las personas de considerar su propia identidad, sus aspiraciones y el camino que ambicionan para su profesión, carrera o actividad. A partir de este rumbo personal, el escoger una carrera debe centrarse en dicho proceso interno. Por tal razón, las probabilidades de éxito son mayores, con una transición enriquecedora y apropiada en el inicio de una nueva universitaria dejando a un lado las deserciones. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Cruz, 2017</xref>)</p>
			<p>La vocación dependerá del nivel de motivación y satisfacción que venga del interior, del corazón, de la ilusión y de los ideales de una persona hacia el deber cumplido más no ha sentirlo una obligación. Esta a su vez se vuelve deficiente al no existir la suficiente predisposición de ejecutar bien su labor profesional. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Alberto &amp; Muriel, 2021</xref>)</p>
			<p>La vocación de una persona se compone de diversos aspectos que varían según las aptitudes y características individuales. Los principales son:</p>
			<p>Gustos personales: Son aquellas cosas y actividades que brindan placer y proporcionan una sensación de satisfacción y comodidad.</p>
			<p>Intereses individuales: Se refieren a los temas que despiertan la curiosidad y motivan la investigación, el aprendizaje o el desarrollo de determinadas áreas.</p>
			<p>Habilidades: Son las capacidades o destrezas que permiten un desempeño eficiente en ciertas actividades. Pueden incluir aspectos como la creatividad, la confianza en uno mismo, la capacidad para resolver problemas, la autonomía y la facilidad para aprender sobre un tema.</p>
			<p>Otros aspectos son la personalidad y los factores sociales.</p>
			<p>Orientación vocacional y profesional según el enfoque crítico-social</p>
			<p>Existen diversos enfoques de orientación vocacional que ayudan a los estudiantes a elegir una carrera adecuada y a tomar decisiones más informadas y alineadas con sus intereses, habilidades y metas profesionales (Naranjo, 2021). Entre ellos se encuentran los que a continuación se exponen:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>Enfoque de derechos: Se basa en respetar y escuchar las opiniones de cada estudiante en materia vocacional, sin ser impuestas a una decisión contraria. </p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Enfoque de bienestar: Ve a los estudiantes como un ser individual con sus propias necesidades y debe recibir oportunidades.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Enfoque inclusivo: Abarca la atención con calidad, equidad y pertenencia hacia las necesidades específicas y comunes de todo el cuerpo estudiantil.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Enfoque pedagógico: Considera la articulación de experiencias previas, los conceptos elaborados y los recursos tanto tecnológicos como didácticos al interior del aula escolar mediados por el reconocimiento de distinción, apoyo, trabajo grupal con la participación activa comunitaria; pues todos estos ayudarán a potenciar el desarrollo de los proyectos de vida personales de cada estudiante. </p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>El Departamento de Consejería Estudiantil (DECE) es la instancia responsable de brindar servicios profesionales de consejería a los estudiantes en el marco de su experiencia educativa. Es la entidad encargada de proporcionar espacios donde el estudiante pueda expresar sus emociones, malestares, opiniones, sentimientos, etcétera.</p>
			<p>Dentro de sus funciones el DECE fomenta la formación de competencias para el desarrollo individual, familiar, y ciudadano, estas competencias se concretizan en la toma de decisiones, estrategias para la solución de conflictos, convivencia en paz y reconocimiento de situaciones de riesgo. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Velásquez, 2020</xref>)</p>
			<p>Para el adecuado desarrollo de un plan de Orientación Vocacional Profesional se requiere la participación activa de todos los actores involucrados, es decir, autoridades, docentes, tutores de grado o curso, profesionales del DECE, estudiantes y familias. Este proceso no debe entenderse como única responsabilidad de la institución educativa o de las y los profesionales del DECE, ya que es un proceso que se va construyendo a lo largo de toda la vida escolar de la o el estudiante y donde se debe mediar entre los factores internos, externos, actores involucrados, realidad nacional entre otros. </p>
			<p>Se entiende entonces que estos profesionales serán los encargados de desarrollar el plan de Orientación Vocacional Profesional para cada estudiante que tienen a su cargo y que, además, deberá ser cronológicamente diseñado para establecer una continuidad en el desarrollo del proyecto de vida de los estudiantes y la finalización del proceso que consiste en la elección de una carrera profesional para estudiar o la vinculación al mundo laboral en las áreas que sean de su interés. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">MINEDUC, 2015</xref>)</p>
			<p>En correspondencia con estos propósitos particulares la investigación se enfocó en un diseño metodológico es cualitativo, lo que permitió la recolecta de datos prácticos de forma clara de la población escogida. Es descriptiva y documental, con el objetivo de crear un sistema de acciones pedagógicas para orientar la vocación de los estudiantes, describiendo su diseño y actividades participativas. También se empleó un método deductivo que parte de criterios generales para entender aspectos específicos de una institución. Permitiendo el análisis de la realidad educativa desde la perspectiva de los actores involucrados y así generar propuestas de mejora en el proceso de orientación vocacional en las EIB.</p>
			<p>Para ello se emplearon como técnicas e instrumentos los que a continuación se exponen:</p>
			<p>La encuesta: Mediante esta técnica se logró obtener datos de un grupo de estudiantes en donde se conoció sus criterios y opiniones del tema tratado a través de cuestionarios.</p>
			<p>Análisis documental: Esta técnica permitió investigar y analizar información importante para el cumplimiento del objetivo de la investigación a través de consultas en fuentes confiables del internet.</p>
			<p>Para el desarrollo de este trabajo se tomó como población a los estudiantes de Educación General Básica Superior de la Unidad Educativa Comunitaria Intercultural Bilingüe “Nueva Frontera”, ubicado en la provincia de Orellana, parroquia Dayuma, de la Comuna Río Tiputini del sector Nueva Frontera; la misma que cuenta con 160 personas entre adultos, jóvenes y niños, con tradiciones y costumbres propias que están enraizadas a la Nacionalidad Kichwa, lo que les ha permitido dedicarse a la producción agrícola como primer sustento económico de sus hogares y a su vez dependiendo de la oferta laboral que promueven las Compañías Petroleras dentro de su territorio. </p>
			<p>En la parroquia Dayuma, sector Nueva Frontera se evidencia a 80 jóvenes entre hombres y mujeres con edades de 14 y 15 años, quienes son escogidos en su 100% como muestra para el estudio de la investigación a través de la aplicación de una encuesta. </p>
			<p>Con respecto a este particular, la primera interrogante a responder era: ¿Sientes que tu cultura es respetada en el entorno escolar?</p>
			<p>Los resultados arrojaron que, del total de estudiantes encuestados, el 67% siente que su cultura es respetada en el entorno escolar, lo que indica que dentro de la Unidad Educativa Intercultural Bilingüe “Nueva Frontera” se valora las diferentes culturas y toma en cuenta las costumbres y tradiciones de sus alumnos en las diversas actividades escolares y opiniones personales. </p>
			<p>Un 16% considera que siempre es respetada su cultura en el entorno escolar, mientras que un 17% manifestó que “A veces”.</p>
			<p>La pregunta 2 de la encuesta estuvo relacionada con la importancia que tiene para los encuestados la continuidad de estudios en el bachillerato después de culminar la básica superior.</p>
			<p>En tal sentido, los resultados revelan que el 83% de las personas encuestadas coinciden en que es importante continuar estudiando el bachillerato después de culminar la básica superior, mostrando que, los estudiantes de básica superior en su mayoría seguirán con el proceso de estudio en el nivel de bachillerato.</p>
			<p>Sin embargo, existe un 6% que estima poco importante su continuidad, por lo que se debería trabajar con ese pequeño grupo de estudiantes para concientizarlos y posterior a ello tomen una mejor decisión.</p>
			<p>Mientras que un 11% lo considera Muy importante.</p>
			<p>En el análisis realizado a los resultados del interrogante número 3 referida a las diferentes opciones de carreras disponibles se pudo apreciar que sólo el 11% de los estudiantes de básica superior, conocen todas las diferentes opciones de carreras disponibles, al contrario de ello el 67% conoce únicamente algunas de dichas opciones, lo cual evidencia que la mayoría de jóvenes están desinformados y he aquí el mayor problema de la investigación. Se sugiere a quien corresponda, una mejor difusión acerca del tema.</p>
			<p>Por otro lado, el 5% respondió que “Ninguno”.</p>
			<p>La interrogante número 4 estaba dirigida a responder si a los encuestados le gustaría laborar en la misma área que sus padres.</p>
			<p>En este aspecto se advirtió que el 100% de los encuestados, no se sienten identificados con las actividades de sus padres, lo que refiere que, en su totalidad, los estudiantes quieren continuar en una carrera a fin a sus aspiraciones e intereses y que puedan desenvolverse con tranquilidad en el área escogida. Al mismo tiempo se evidencia que los estudiantes de básica superior aspiran estudiar una carrera de nivel superior al culminar el bachillerato.</p>
			<p>En otro orden, la mitad de estudiantes encuestados, correspondiente al 50%, que sí les interesaría mucho en recibir orientación vocacional adicional en el colegio, indicando que sienten la necesidad de reconocer sus habilidades y aptitudes para la toma de buenas decisiones y una correcta elección de carrera al continuar con el bachillerato. Es por ello que, se requiere de un buen sistema de acciones pedagógicas para el desarrollo de la motivación y orientación vocacional.</p>
			<p>Con respecto al interés para primero en el bachillerato, que responde a la última interrogante de la encuesta se pudo observar que entre las tres opciones a marcar (Técnico, Ciencias, No me decido Aún), hay una leve diferencia, lo que indica que las respuestas dadas de los encuestados están distribuidas de manera proporcional, es preocupante que un 33% aún no se decida qué carrera seguir, por tal razón, se necesita de una mejor motivación y orientación vocacional que ayuden a ese grupo de jóvenes a escoger una carrera.</p>
			<p>Sistema de acciones pedagógicas para el desarrollo de la motivación y orientación vocacional para el nivel básico superior</p>
			<p>Teniendo en cuenta los resultados obtenidos los autores de la presente investigación proponen un sistema de acciones pedagógicas enmarcadas en tres ejes centrales necesarios para el desarrollo de la motivación y orientación vocacional para el nivel básico superior, en especial a los décimos años de Educación General Básica. (Ver <xref ref-type="table" rid="t1">Tabla 1</xref>).</p>

				<title>Introduction</title>
				<p>Important events in life are marked by the end and the beginning of stages, one of them is the culmination of the Higher Basic level, since it is where students begin to question themselves about their future, both academic and labor, giving way to think about their tastes and interests and, therefore, to the choice of a career according to their affinities, aptitudes and personality.</p>
				<p>For this reason, it is essential to know the importance of vocational guidance in tenth grade students who will choose their career for the transition to high school, this pedagogical process will prevent the student's confusion at the time of choosing a career, and after that, it will also prevent school dropout.</p>
				<p>Currently, the tenth years of basic education face a major problem: the choice of a career for the transition to the baccalaureate. This choice is not an easy task, since at the moment of choosing what to study, factors such as aptitudes, interests, contexts and motivations intervene. </p>
				<p>Therefore, it is necessary that the student has the opportunity to have access to a system of pedagogical actions that allow him/her to make good decisions about his/her life project in a more conscious, clear and structured way. </p>
				<p>The lack of pedagogical actions aimed at Vocational Guidance in tenth grade students is an educational problem that demands a solution and thus helps students to choose a career that contributes to their academic development and their labor, personal and social future in the BTP.</p>
				<p>According to the above, the main objective of this article is to elaborate a system of pedagogical actions to develop the vocational orientation of students in the Upper Basic School for the transition to the Technical and Vocational Baccalaureate.</p>
				<p>Among the specific objectives are the following:</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>To determine basic concepts in correspondence to vocational orientation.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>To analyze the needs of the students of Upper Basic Education regarding vocational orientation for the choice of the Technical Professional Baccalaureate, through the application of surveys and/or interviews.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Design a vocational orientation methodology that allows the implementation of active and participative pedagogical strategies that help students in the transition to the Professional Technical Baccalaureate.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Constantly monitor the implementation of teaching strategies, learning methods and educational activities through evaluation instruments that measure the impact of pedagogical actions.</p>
						</list-item>

				<title>Development</title>
				<p>Vocational guidance can contribute on a large scale and effectively to the life project of tenth grade students. It can be taken as an initiative to put an end to the various reasons why young people feel oppressed by not being satisfied with their chosen career and thus avoid discontinuity in high school and therefore to higher studies and even more to have problems in the insertion into the world of work. That is why it is very important to accompany and respect the decisions and changes of opinion of the student throughout the process.</p>
				<p>Having a sense of life is fundamental to develop as human beings, and the right choice of our professional career contributes to achieve that purpose. Having a career that we are passionate about will make our personal and professional life successful, pleasant and with a direction of constant growth. On the contrary, studying and pursuing a career that we do not like, even if we are good at it, will only generate stress, anxiety and frustration in our lives. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Soledispa et al., 2020</xref>)</p>
				<p>The process of choosing a career is not easy. Many times we confuse our skills and interests with our vocation; however, they are not the same thing. When we feel vocation for a professional career, we also experience a strong desire to learn more, improve every day and enjoy to the fullest every moment we spend exercising our profession. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Sellan, 2017</xref>)</p>
				<p>In Ecuador, in the year 2023 there is a university dropout rate of 20.46%, which varies according to the institution, despite having a high number of enrolled students, few university students manage to complete their careers to the fullest, because they do not have sufficient guidance for the choice of their career. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">Delgado, 2024</xref>)</p>
				<p>Student dropout in higher education is a serious social problem of high impact worldwide, being more evident in developing countries such as Ecuador, where dropout rates at the university level are around 40%. Factors related to the availability of places, the careers on offer, institutional policies, personal and family factors, socioeconomic situation, play a determining role in academic dropout, as many students face an unknown and unsatisfactory reality in many cases. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Avila et al., 2024</xref>, p. 13) </p>
				<p>The poor choice of a university career is due to the fact that, beyond their aptitudes and interests, young people are motivated by economic, cultural and prestige issues or pressure from parents and friends. Choosing what career to study is undoubtedly a very important step for the academic, professional and personal development of young people. However, the risks of a bad choice are multiple and range from frustration to school dropout and later underemployment. </p>
				<p>Choosing a career is not a decision that is made from one day to the next, it is a process, and as such it is necessary to follow a series of steps that allow young people to reflect not only on what career they are going to choose, but also to develop a life project in which the career is part of their economy. Therefore, it is essential to work not only with the students, but also with the family because it is the main guide. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Venegas, 2022</xref>) </p>
				<p>Many authors define vocational guidance as a process that helps and guides the person in the choice of a profession or career. </p>
				<p>According to ( <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">García-Pisco &amp; Loor-Salmon, 2021</xref>) , vocational guidance can be understood as: “A process of help in the choice of a profession, the preparation for it, the access to the labor exercise of it and the subsequent evolution and progress” (p. 5).</p>
				<p>Vocational guidance is a process that uses aspects of psychology and pedagogy to help a person know themselves better, identify their life goals and the careers that best suit their personality, interests and abilities. (CEDUK, 2023)</p>
				<p>Vocational and Professional Guidance constitutes an alternative to provide spaces for the recognition of strengths and weaknesses of children, adolescents and young people who are within the education system, from the identification of protective factors and threats, which should be used to support and generate actions within the construction of comprehensive life projects and individual decision making. (MINEDUC, 2015)</p>
				<p>Vocational guidance, is very important and plays a fundamental role in the professional success of each of the students who seek professional success, for this process to be positive, it is necessary that there is cooperation between vocational counselors and parents. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Velásquez, 2020</xref>)</p>
				<p>Guidance and vocation</p>
				<p>Guidance is a process integrated to the curriculum, with emphasis on the principles of prevention, development and attention to diversity and in the affective-emotional, school and vocational areas of the student, with the objective of perceiving their real and potential aptitudes for a better understanding of their socio-educational situation and making relevant decisions, in areas of their personal, social and professional development. (Molina, 2025, p. 8)</p>
				<p>Vocation is the self-discovery of people to consider their own identity, their aspirations and the path they aspire to for their profession, career or activity. From this personal direction, the choice of a career should be centered on this internal process. For such reason, the probabilities of success are greater, with an enriching and appropriate transition in the beginning of a new university leaving aside the desertions. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Cruz, 2017</xref>)</p>
				<p>The vocation will depend on the level of motivation and satisfaction that comes from within, from the heart, from the illusion and ideals of a person towards the fulfilled duty but has not feel it an obligation. This in turn becomes deficient when there is not enough predisposition to perform well their professional work. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Alberto &amp; Muriel, 2021</xref>)</p>
				<p>A person's vocation is composed of various aspects that vary according to individual aptitudes and characteristics. The main ones are:</p>
				<p>Personal tastes: those things and activities that bring pleasure and provide a sense of satisfaction and comfort.</p>
				<p>Individual interests: These refer to the topics that arouse curiosity and motivate research, learning or development in certain areas.</p>
				<p>Skills: These are the abilities or skills that allow efficient performance in certain activities. They may include aspects such as creativity, self-confidence, problem-solving ability, autonomy and ease of learning about a subject.</p>
				<p>Other aspects are personality and social factors.</p>
				<p>Vocational and career guidance according to the social-critical approach</p>
				<p>There are various approaches to vocational guidance that help students choose an appropriate career and make more informed decisions aligned with their interests, skills and career goals (Naranjo, 2021) . These include the following:</p>
				<p>Rights approach: It is based on respecting and listening to the opinions of each student in vocational matters, without being imposed to a contrary decision. </p>
				<p>Well-being approach: Sees students as individual beings with their own needs and should be given opportunities.</p>
				<p>Inclusive approach: It encompasses attention with quality, equity and belonging to the specific and common needs of the entire student body.</p>
				<p>Pedagogical approach: It considers the articulation of previous experiences, the concepts developed and the technological and didactic resources inside the classroom through the recognition of distinction, support, group work with active community participation, as all these will help to enhance the development of personal life projects of each student. </p>
				<p>The Student Counseling Department (DECE) is responsible for providing professional counseling services to students within the framework of their educational experience. It is the entity in charge of providing spaces where students can express their emotions, discomfort, opinions, feelings, etcetera. </p>
				<p>Within its functions, the DECE promotes the formation of competencies for individual, family and citizen development, these competencies are concretized in decision making, strategies for conflict resolution, peaceful coexistence and recognition of risk situations. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Velásquez, 2020</xref>)</p>
				<p>The proper development of a Vocational Guidance plan requires the active participation of all the actors involved, i.e., authorities, teachers, grade or course tutors, DECE professionals, students and families. This process should not be understood as the sole responsibility of the educational institution or the DECE professionals, since it is a process that is built throughout the school life of the student and where internal and external factors, stakeholders, national reality, among others, must be mediated. </p>
				<p>It is understood then that these professionals will be in charge of developing the Professional Vocational Guidance plan for each student they are in charge of and that, in addition, it should be chronologically designed to establish a continuity in the development of the students' life project and the completion of the process that consists in the choice of a professional career to study or the link to the labor world in the areas that are of their interest. (MINEDUC, 2015)</p>
				<p>In correspondence with these particular purposes the research focused on a methodological design is qualitative, which allowed the collection of practical data in a clear way from the chosen population. It is descriptive and documentary, with the objective of creating a system of pedagogical actions to guide the students' vocation, describing its design and participatory activities. A deductive method was also used, which starts from general criteria to understand specific aspects of an institution. It allowed the analysis of the educational reality from the perspective of the actors involved and thus generate proposals for improvement in the vocational guidance process in the IBE.</p>
				<p>The following techniques and instruments were used for this purpose:</p>
				<p>The survey: Through this technique it was possible to obtain data from a group of students where their criteria and opinions on the subject were obtained through questionnaires.</p>
				<p>Documentary analysis: This technique made it possible to investigate and analyze important information for the fulfillment of the research objective through consultations in reliable internet sources.</p>
				<p>For the development of this work, we took as population the students of General Basic Education of the Intercultural Bilingual Community Education Unit “Nueva Frontera”, located in the province of Orellana, parish Dayuma, of the Tiputini River Commune of the Nueva Frontera sector; It has 160 people including adults, youth and children, with their own traditions and customs that are rooted in the Kichwa Nationality, which has allowed them to engage in agricultural production as the primary economic livelihood of their homes and in turn depending on the labor supply promoted by the oil companies within their territory. </p>
				<p>In the parish of Dayuma, Nueva Frontera sector, there is evidence of 80 young men and women aged 14 and 15 years, who are chosen 100% as a sample for the research study through the application of a survey. </p>
				<p>The first question to be answered was: Do you feel that your culture is respected in the school environment?</p>
				<p>The results showed that, of the total number of students surveyed, 67% feel that their culture is respected in the school environment, which indicates that within the Intercultural Bilingual Educational Unit “Nueva Frontera” the different cultures are valued and the customs and traditions of their students are taken into account in the various school activities and personal opinions. </p>
				<p>Sixteen percent consider that their culture is always respected in the school environment, while 17% stated that “Sometimes”.</p>
				<p>Question 2 of the survey was related to the importance for the respondents of continuing their studies at the baccalaureate level after completing high school.</p>
				<p>In this sense, the results reveal that 83% of the people surveyed agree that it is important to continue studying in high school after completing high school, showing that the majority of high school students will continue with the study process at the high school level.</p>
				<p>However, there are 6% who consider their continuity to be of little importance, which is why work should be done with this small group of students to make them aware of the importance of continuing their studies, so that they can then make a better decision.</p>
				<p>Meanwhile, 11% consider it very important.</p>
				<p>In the analysis of the results of question number 3 referring to the different career options available, it could be seen that only 11% of the students of higher basic education know all the different career options available, on the contrary, 67% know only some of these options, which shows that the majority of young people are uninformed and this is the biggest problem of the research. A better dissemination of this topic is suggested to whoever it may concern.</p>
				<p>On the other hand, 5% answered “None”.</p>
				<p>Question number 4 was aimed at answering whether the respondents would like to work in the same area as their parents.</p>
				<p>In this aspect, it was noted that 100% of the respondents do not feel identified with the activities of their parents, which indicates that, in their totality, the students want to continue in a career according to their aspirations and interests and that they can develop with peace of mind in the chosen area. At the same time, it is evident that the students of higher basic education aspire to study a higher level career when they finish high school.</p>
				<p>On the other hand, half of the students surveyed, corresponding to 50%, would be very interested in receiving additional vocational guidance at school, indicating that they feel the need to recognize their abilities and aptitudes in order to make good decisions and a correct career choice when continuing with high school. Therefore, a good system of pedagogical actions is required for the development of motivation and vocational orientation.</p>
				<p>With respect to the interest for the first year of high school, which responds to the last question of the survey, it could be observed that among the three options to mark (Technical, Science, I have not decided yet), there is a slight difference, which indicates that the answers given by the respondents are distributed proportionally, it is worrying that 33% still have not decided which career to follow, for this reason, a better motivation and vocational orientation is needed to help this group of young people to choose a career.</p>
				<p>System of pedagogical actions for the development of motivation and vocational orientation for the higher basic level.</p>
				<p>Taking into account the results obtained, the authors of this research propose a system of pedagogical actions framed in three central axes necessary for the development of motivation and vocational orientation for the higher basic level, especially in the tenth year of General Basic Education (see <xref ref-type="table" rid="t2">Table 1</xref>).</p>
