			<title>Introducción</title>
			<p>La educación ambiental es esencial para empoderar a las personas con conocimientos y actitudes necesarios para tomar decisiones responsables sobre el entorno natural en este planeta con crecientes desafíos y problemas los que de una manera u otra afectan la calidad de vida de todos los seres vivos, situación que se ha convertido en un pilar para inspirar acciones en favor del medio ambiente.</p>
			<p>No se puede vivir de espalda al mundo. “La educación ambiental es la base fundamental para el logro de los objetivos del desarrollo sostenible y para la conservación de los recursos naturales a nivel mundial” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Agua, 2021</xref>, p. 81). </p>
			<p>Para poder sostener el desarrollo de esta y con ella la protección del medio y los recursos naturales, la <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Organización de las Naciones Unidas ONU (2023</xref>) ha intentado lograr la concientización en este sentido. En esta dirección está muy vigente el Discurso en la Cumbre de la Tierra efectuado en Río de Janeiro, cuando el presidente cubano en aquel entonces expresó: “Hágase más racional la vida humana. Aplíquese un orden internacional justo. Utilícese toda la ciencia necesaria para un desarrollo sostenido sin contaminación. Páguese la deuda ecológica y no la deuda externa. Desaparezca el hambre y no el hombre” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Castro Ruz, 1992</xref>, p. 3).</p>
			<p>A través de la educación ambiental pretende formar individuos capaces de tomar decisiones informadas y responsables en relación con el medio ambiente. En el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible de Colombia se enfatizó lo siguiente: “La educación ambiental es un proceso dinámico y participativo orientado a la formación de personas críticas y reflexivas, con capacidades para comprender las problemáticas ambientales de sus contextos locales, regionales y nacionales” <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Muhamad (2021</xref>). La misma explicó la importancia de la juventud a nivel global para que luche por el cambio climático. </p>
			<p>Una vez trabajada la educación ambiental su esencia está en formar una cultura ambientalista la que a criterios de los autores del presente trabajo se refiere al conjunto de valores, creencias, actitudes y prácticas relacionadas con la protección y conservación del medio ambiente. </p>
			<p>Al respecto, la <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Comisión Nacional del Agua de México (2021</xref>) expresó: </p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p> La Cultura del Agua es un conjunto de valores, actitudes, costumbres y hábitos que son transmitidos a un individuo o una sociedad para crear una consciencia responsable sobre el uso racional, la importancia del agua para el desarrollo de todo ser vivo, la disponibilidad del recurso en su entorno y las acciones necesarias para obtenerla, distribuirla, desalojarla, limpiarla y reutilizarla. (p. 2) </p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Ella implica una conexión profunda y una preocupación activa por la protección de los recursos naturales y la promoción de la sostenibilidad. “La crisis ambiental actual demanda acciones concretas para fomentar una cultura ambientalista en la sociedad” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Betancourt &amp; Correa, 2021</xref>, p. 121).</p>
			<p>Se requiere con urgencia una cultura ambiental que replantee los hábitos y comportamientos de todos los seres humanos, acciones que se materialicen en pro del medio ambiente y toda forma de vida, entendida como un proceso que parte del análisis de las problemáticas ambientales y ofrece propuestas las que deben de estar encaminadas a identificar el grado de conocimiento ambiental, las actitudes o las representaciones que tienen grupos de estudiantes escolares o universitarios sobre el estado del ambiente. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">Medina &amp; Páramo 2014</xref>, p. 54)</p>
			<p>En todo este proceso que de orientación pedagógica en gran sentido se trata de proteger unos de los recursos más valiosos que es el agua la que no deja de ser una acción estratégica para garantizar el bienestar humano y ecológico frente a los desafíos globales como el cambio climático, el crecimiento demográfico o la escasez hídrica. Ella implica el uso eficiente y racional del recurso hídrico tanto en cantidad como en calidad. “La educación ambiental posee fundamentos que permite la protección del agua” (Agua, 2021).</p>
			<p>Existen muchos criterios acerca del uso del agua, en este sentido para connotarle la importancia que tiene ya que no todos los seres humanos actúan con la debida conciencia en este sentido.</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>El agua, como el recurso más vital para nuestra existencia, es vector de desarrollo e indicador de calidad de vida de las personas. Es, por tanto, crucial su conservación y cuidado desde todas las perspectivas, donde la educación ambiental juega un papel fundamental. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Zarza, 2021</xref>, p. 1)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>La cultura ambiental se desarrolla a través de la educación, la experiencia personal y la interacción con el entorno. Se debe tener en cuenta que el fomento de este tipo de cultura se puede construir en el individuo desde etapas tempranas de su formación lo que significa que la protección del agua requiere una gestión integral e integrada que involucre a todos los sectores sociales e institucionales relacionados con el agua. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Orduña, 2024</xref>, p. 6)</p>
			<p>La definición mencionada, pondera lo axiológico en el estudiante, visto desde la perspectiva humanista y reconoce la necesidad de una actitud para hacer, sin embargo, no considera el tránsito desde el plano teórico, es decir desde la simple disposición hacia un comportamiento transformador, consecuente con lo recibido, que sea muestra del equilibrio entre lo interno y lo externo, teniendo en cuenta que el estudiante puede estar apto para hacer y no hacerlo. </p>
			<p>Atendiendo a lo abordado, las instituciones educativas tienen la oportunidad, pero además el deber de formar ciudadanos comprometidos, críticos y activos capaces de llevar estilos de vida sostenibles y ejercer una influencia positiva en sus familias y comunidades. Es en este contexto donde la educación emerge como una herramienta poderosa, transformadora, alentadora y optimista; capaz de sembrar las semillas del cambio y cultivar una nueva conciencia ambiental, a través de la incorporación efectiva y profunda de la educación ambiental en los currículos con metodologías de enseñanza coherentes con el presente actual y la gravedad de la crisis ambiental. (Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), 2023)</p>
			<p>Tales aspectos se consideran importantes para desplegar un accionar positivo dirigido a la protección del medio ambiente donde el agua sea priorizada por ser la que da la vida , a partir de la formación de la cultura ambiental como espacio fundamental en el que se concretará el desempeño de ese estudiante en interacción con otros factores bióticos, abióticos y socioeconómicos, en un tiempo irrepetible, lo cual requiere considerar lo cognitivo, educativo y desarrollador en un sentido totalizador y su concreción en un modo de actuación para transformación individual y social. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Ortuste, 2022</xref>, p. 15)</p>
			<p>La cultura ambiental para la protección del recurso agua, permitirá que el aprendizaje adquiera un carácter complejo, donde los alumnos sean capaces de analizar de manera crítica diversos problemas sociales y ambientales, sin embargo “la argumentación ha sido poco desarrollada en contextos escolares de básica primaria y secundaria, ubicándola entonces en una práctica prioritaria en la educación superior, lo que justifica las diversas dificultades en la formación en niños, niñas y jóvenes” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B22">Zona &amp; Márquez, 2019</xref>, p. 81).</p>
			<p>En correspondencia, la Estrategia Curricular de medio ambiente o educación ambiental (Universidad de Oriente, 2015), refiere la necesidad de un enfoque holístico durante el tratamiento a las problemáticas ambientales; más cuando existen problemas en este sentido naturales y sociales relacionados con los modos de comportamiento, sin embargo, a pesar de las exigencias en la práctica pedagógica hay insuficiencias en correspondencia entre los conocimientos teóricos que poseen los estudiantes y el comportamiento que asumen a favor del cuidado y protección del agua en el entornos donde realizan sus actividades de prácticas docente. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">Maydata, 2017</xref>, p. 12)</p>
			<p>Desde la investigación educativa se debe contribuir al desarrollo de una cultura ambientalista en los maestros primarios en formación, con el objetivo de generar conciencia y compromiso ambiental desde las etapas iniciales de su formación profesional. En esta dirección en el Modelo del Profesional de las carreras Licenciatura en Educación Primaria (Plan de Estudios D, 2010). Para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Martínez (2016</xref>) como para muchos la visión de poseer una cultura ambientalista es esencial; estos manifiestan: “se orienta en los objetivos generales, que el estudiante sea capaz de adquirir reflexiva y valorativamente un sistema de conocimientos, hábitos y habilidades relacionados con la educación ambiental!” (p. 51).</p>
			<p>Atendiendo a lo abordado, el Plan de Estudio D también está fuera de la unidad central dando cumplimiento también al desarrollo de los estudios de Licenciatura los que se desarrollan en los municipios a través de los cursos por encuentros en los Centro Universitarios Municipales (CUM) y también por las actividades del diurno en las “Casas Madres” en las ciudades cabeceras de las provincias lo que facilita que una vez egresados puedan tener la creencia dada su formación académica proteger el recurso agua utilizando la combinación de la teoría con la práctica desde su propio modo de sentir, pensar y actuar favoreciendo un adecuado desempeño profesional: urbano y rural contextos que no dejan de ser su esferas de actuación.</p>
			<p>A criterio de los autores del presente artículo, en los momentos actuales, la formación de los estudiantes universitarios de carreras pedagógicas, adquiere mayor relevancia, a partir de las transformaciones que tienen lugar en la propia universidad, en la educación primaria, para la cual se preparan y en la propia sociedad en que se desarrollan. La importancia de todo este proceso investigativo aparejado con el desarrollo de investigaciones de otros autores sobre el mismo problema acerca de la formación de la cultura ambiental para los maestros en formación está precisamente en la intencionalidad de contar con una herramienta de trabajo para posteriores investigaciones en las que sea necesario utilizar la estrategia propuesta con sus fases e indicadores evaluativos donde sea asequible para su introducción y generalización de otros resultados. </p>
			<p>Lo antes abordado sintetiza la necesidad de desarrollar el presente artículo científico para promover la cultura ambiental para lograr la protección del recurso agua en las escuelas primarias y en las comunidades donde ellas están enclavadas. El proceso de investigación que en este artículo se presenta concibió como objetivo general: la instrumentación de una estrategia pedagógica para desarrollar la cultura ambiental con vista a contribuir a la protección del recurso agua por los maestros en formación del Centro Universitario Municipal de San Luis de la provincia de Santiago de Cuba.</p>
			<p>La misma contó con objetivos más específicos los que fueron:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="order">
					<list-item>
						<p>Promover la comprensión de la importancia de la protección del recurso agua y su relación con el medio ambiente, la sociedad y el desarrollo sostenible.</p>

			<title>Desarrollo</title>
			<p>Fundamentación teórica</p>
			<p>Los resultados aportados en la presente investigación han sido muy positivos confiables y válidos para poder contribuir a la protección del recurso agua como recurso natural pero sostenido en la formación de una cultura ambientalista donde los estudiantes en formación desde sus puestos de trabajo contribuyan a esta labor tan significativa en aras de proteger la vida en su esencia. Indiscutiblemente que el objetivo propuesto se vincula con los resultados a partir del logro obtenido aspecto redundante en el desarrollo de otras investigaciones acerca de la educación ambiental y su formación desde el contexto pedagógico. </p>
			<p>De manera comparativa las investigaciones realizadas en gran parte del mundo sobre la presente temática han abordado el estudio de los recursos naturales desde las instituciones educativas, sobre todo las de nivel superior, con la intención de propiciar la sensibilización de todos los profesionales ante los problemas ambientales, caracterizado por un pensamiento creador, juicioso, proactivo y científico.</p>
			<p>Algunos de los últimos investigadores exponentes de diferentes países con respecto a la educación ambiental y la formación de una cultura de este tipo han llevado una línea bastante similar a las presentadas en el presente artículo haciendo alusión a la calidad y protección del medio ambiente y los recursos naturales; algunos de estos investigadores con tesis doctorales en su gran mayoría son: <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">González (2013</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B14">Ramos (2015</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Villaverde (2021</xref>),<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Vega (2023</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Ibáñez (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Ryad (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Santos (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">UNESCO (2024</xref>) y <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B15">Rey (2024</xref>), entre otros. </p>
			<p>Lo antes abordado sintetiza que si hay relación entre los estudios anteriores y el que muestran los investigadores ahora constituyendo una prioridad a nivel internacional donde los diferente autores mencionados han elaborado concepciones, modelos, metodologías y estrategias derivadas de las investigaciones científicas desarrolladas corroborándose que, en su escritura y estilos hay similitud con respecto a la protección de los recursos naturales desde la formación y el trabajo en unidad de acción como parte de la educación ambiental sin embargo, un bajo por ciento hace énfasis de manera directa en la protección del recurso agua y la formación de una cultura ambiental aspectos estos que hacen muy novedoso dicha investigación.</p>
			<p>Es significativo plantear que el presente estudio investigativo es parte de una tesis doctoral que responde a las Ciencias de la Educación la que está en desarrollo por la autora principal de dicho artículo donde con toda intencionalidad se busca la relación de la formación de la educación ambiental y la plena concientización medio ambiental para la protección del recurso agua elementos indicativos que todavía hasta el momento no dejan de ser limitaciones en el comportamiento y su total movilización por parte de los maestros en formación para lograr esa cultura protectora de las aguas teniendo en cuenta la vinculación de la esfera inductora y ejecutora en unidad con las actitudes y valores para movilizar hacia un pleno comportamiento que consolide la formación de convicciones hacia la cultura ambiental. </p>
			<p>Metodología utilizada</p>
			<p>Para la realización del estudio se realizó un estudio descriptivo predominando una investigación sostenida por un enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo a partir del análisis de referentes bibliográficos de libros, artículos científicos, tesis de doctorado y de maestrías además de la revisión del Plan de estudio D. Los autores de dicho trabajo tuvieron en cuenta el diseño de dicha investigación el que estuvo para conocer y valorar el nivel de desarrollo de la cultura ambientalista en la muestra de maestros en formación.</p>
			<p>A su vez se utilizaron métodos teóricos, tales como: análisis-síntesis, inductivo-deductivo, comparación y la abstracción los que favorecieron para poder introducir y analizar el propio desarrollo del trabajo con sus conclusiones. Estos métodos permitieron la sistematización y análisis de la bibliografía, la interpretación conceptual de los datos empíricos. Ellos fueron muy ventajosos en la interpretación de las teorías referentes al tema tratado, comprender los hechos y profundizar en las relaciones esenciales de los procesos no observables. </p>
			<p>La puesta en práctica por el método Sistémico Estructural Funcional favoreció poder desarrollar cada una de las partes de dicho proceso investigativo el que se concretó en el presente artículo científico donde del todo a sus partes se concibieron varios aspectos medulares para su mejor concreción observado en la combinación armónica de su estructura metodológica y el funcionamiento en la práctica dada la estrategia de cada una de ellas. </p>
			<p>Los métodos empíricos estuvieron representados por el cuestionario estructurado y la observación directa de las prácticas pedagógicas de los maestros en formación para poder establecer los diagnósticos establecidos y sus resultados durante un antes y un después de introducida la estrategia pedagógica.</p>
			<p>Selección de la población y la muestra:</p>
			<p>La población de estudio fueron las 10 escuelas del Consejo Popular Capitán San Luis como fuente de información del propio municipio con un total de 30 maestros en formación de la licenciatura en educación primaria.</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>Se seleccionó una muestra de 25 maestros en formación de la carrera de licenciatura de maestros primarios.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>La muestra se seleccionó de manera no probabilística, utilizando el método de conveniencia, lo que implica que se eligieron participantes disponibles y accesibles para la investigación.</p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>Etapas para el desarrollo de la estrategia</p>
			<p>La estrategia pedagógica propuesta busca integrar la educación ambiental en el currículo de formación docente, promoviendo la reflexión crítica, la sensibilización y la acción en relación a la protección del agua. Se basó en enfoques participativos, experienciales y contextualizados, que fomentan el aprendizaje significativo y la transferencia de conocimientos a situaciones reales. </p>
			<p>Esta estrategia pedagógica contó con varias etapas las que fueron: </p>
			<p>Objetivo: Organizar de manera científica el proceso estratégico para la protección del recurso aguas. </p>
			<p>Las etapas de la estrategia fueron:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="order">
					<list-item>
						<p>Diagnóstico inicial</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Formación teórica, </p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Análisis curricular y desarrollo de acciones</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Experiencias prácticas, </p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Acompañamiento y evaluación. (diagnóstico final) </p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>Etapa del Diagnóstico inicial</p>
			<p>Atendiendo a los métodos empíricos se realizó el diagnóstico a la muestra objeto de estudio que fueron 25 maestros en formación bajo las mejores condiciones para obtener los resultados deseados. Se administró el cuestionario a los, asegurando que se respondiera de manera individual y anónima. Se brindó una explicación clara y detallada sobre cómo completar el cuestionario y se aclararon posibles dudas.</p>
			<p>En esta etapa se identificó que los maestros en formación presentaban un nivel medio en cuanto a su cultura ambientalista respecto a la protección del recurso agua., si bien mostraban cierta conciencia sobre la importancia de la conservación del agua, se evidenciaban limitaciones en términos de conocimientos específicos, habilidades prácticas y actitudes comprometidas donde su comportamiento no era de un accionar participativo en plena interacción entre la teoría y la práctica.</p>
			<p>Se conocieron varios factores que influyeron en el comportamiento de los maestros en formación en esta carrera en relación con la protección del agua; como: la formación docente, las actitudes y valores personales, la disponibilidad de recursos, el apoyo institucional y la conciencia sobre la importancia del recurso. </p>
			<p>Conclusiones parciales: De manera general, si bien se observaron conocimientos teóricos adecuados y actitudes positivas hacia la protección, aún existían desafíos en la implementación de prácticas sostenibles y la integración de la educación ambiental en el contexto escolar capaz de formarse una cultura ambientalista hacia la protección del recurso agua. Estos hallazgos son consistentes con estudios previos que destacan la brecha entre el conocimiento teórico y el práctico.</p>
			<p>Etapa de formación teórica</p>
			<p>En esta etapa se proporcionó una actividad de capacitación a los maestros previo resultados del diagnóstico inicial para darle los conocimientos fundamentales sobre la importancia de la </p>
			<p>protección del agua y los desafíos asociados y cómo desarrollar acciones. Durante esta etapa, se organizaron talleres, conferencias y actividades de discusión en las que se abordaron temas como la importancia del agua como recurso vital, los problemas de escasez y contaminación, y las estrategias de protección, Además, se presentaron estudios de casos y ejemplos prácticos que ilustraron la relevancia de la temática en el contexto local y global.</p>
			<p>Etapa de análisis curricular y desarrollo de acciones </p>
			<p>En esta se produjo a la integración curricular de la educación ambiental en el plan de estudios de formación docente. Se identificaron las asignaturas y áreas de estudio más relevantes para abordar la protección del agua, y se diseñaron actividades y proyectos que permitieron a los maestros en formación aplicar los conocimientos adquiridos en situaciones prácticas. Por ejemplo, en la asignatura de Ciencias Naturales, se realizaron experimentos y prácticas de laboratorio que abordaron temas como la calidad del agua, la filtración y la purificación. </p>
			<p>En la asignatura de Educación Ambiental, se llevó a cabo proyectos de investigación comunitarios que involucraron a los maestros en formación en la identificación y resolución de problemas relacionados con el agua en su entorno.</p>
			<p>El análisis curricular también se extendió a otras asignaturas, como Lengua y Literatura, Matemáticas, y Ciencias Sociales, donde se fomentaron la reflexión crítica y la comunicación efectiva sobre la temática de la protección del agua. Por ejemplo, en Lengua y Literatura, se realizaron debates y escritura de ensayos argumentativos sobre la importancia de proteger este recurso y las posibles soluciones a los problemas asociados. En Matemáticas, se realizaron actividades de análisis de datos sobre el consumo de agua en la comunidad y su relación con la sostenibilidad ambiental.</p>
			<p> En Ciencias Sociales, se exploraron los aspectos sociales y culturales relacionados con el uso y gestión del agua en diferentes contextos.</p>
			<p>Etapa de experiencias prácticas</p>
			<p>Se fomentaron la realización de actividades prácticas fuera del aula, como visitas a centros de tratamiento de agua, reservas naturales o comunidades que han implementado prácticas exitosas de protección del agua. Estas experiencias permitieron a los maestros en formación poner sus conocimientos y establecer conexiones reales entre la teoría y la realidad práctica.</p>
			<p>Etapa de acompañamiento y evaluación</p>
			<p> Durante la implementación, se asignarán tutores o supervisores que brindarán orientación y retroalimentación a los maestros en formación. Los autores de dicha investigación fueron los responsables de realizar observaciones en el aula, revisar y evaluar las actividades desarrolladas, y proporcionar recomendaciones para mejorar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje. Además, se llevaron a cabo evaluaciones periódicas para medir el progreso de los maestros en formación y realizar ajustes necesarios en la estrategia. La evaluación procedió a partir de los aspectos que aparecen a continuación: </p>
			<p>Variables utilizadas para evaluar el desarrollo estratégico: </p>
			<p>Se concibieron variables de respuestas como la dependiente: desarrollo de la cultura ambientalista alcanzada por los maestros en formación de la carrera de educación primaria respecto a la necesidad de la protección del recurso agua; la misma se operacionalizó como sigue:</p>

			<title>Conclusiones</title>
			<p>Los aspectos teóricos que se recogen en la introducción, así como en la primera parte de la fundamentación contribuyeron a poder considerar que han existido varios estudios relacionados con la protección del medio ambiente y con él la protección del recurso agua tan valiosa para la propia existencia d los seres vivos en la Tierra. </p>
			<p>De manera exitosa y con la combinación de los métodos teóricos y empíricos sustentado en el Sistémico Estructural Funcional se logró el objetivo deseado con la instrumentación de una estrategia pedagógica aplicada para desarrollar la cultura ambiental por parte de los maestros en formación del Centro Universitario Municipal de San Luis de la provincia de Santiago de Cuba en aras de contribuir a la protección del recurso agua donde se alcanzó de manera teórica y práctica la movilización de los estudiantes para tal fin. </p>
			<p>En iguales condiciones se promovió a la protección del recurso agua como parte del medio ambiente, contribuyendo a la sociedad y el desarrollo sostenible desde la relación de dependencia e interdependencia entre la formación teórica, el aanálisis curricular y el desarrollo de acciones lográndose la eexperiencia práctica con mayor desarrollo de la motivación y el emprendimiento por accionar desde los intereses y la voluntad de preserva la vida en la Tierras. </p>
			<p>Los aspectos mencionados corroboraron la pertinencia del ddesarrollo habilidades pedagógicas para abordar la temática de la protección del agua de manera efectiva en el aula, adaptando estrategias y recursos educativos a las necesidades de los estudiantes pero de una manera mucho más creativa desde lo curricular hacia lo extracurricular fomentando la reflexión crítica y la sensibilización respecto a las problemáticas ambientales relacionadas con el agua, promoviendo actitudes responsables y comprometidas con su protección no solo a los estudiantes sino llevando a la participación activa de los maestros en formación en acciones concretas de protección del agua en su entorno personal, educativo y comunitario.</p>

				<title>Introduction</title>
				<p>Environmental education is essential to empower people with the knowledge and attitudes necessary to make responsible decisions about the natural environment on this planet with growing challenges and problems that in one way or another affect the quality of life of all living beings, a situation that has become a pillar to inspire actions in favor of the environment.</p>
				<p>One cannot live with one's back to the world. “Environmental education is the fundamental basis for the achievement of the objectives of sustainable development and for the conservation of natural resources worldwide” (Water, 2021, p. 81). </p>
				<p>In order to support the development of this and with it the protection of the environment and natural resources, the United Nations (UN) (2023) has tried to raise awareness in this regard. In this direction, the speech at the Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, when the Cuban president at that time said: “Let human life become more rational. Let a just international order be applied. Use all the science necessary for sustained development without pollution. Let the ecological debt be paid, not the foreign debt. Let hunger disappear and not man” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Castro Ruz, 1992</xref>, p. 3).</p>
				<p>Through environmental education, it seeks to form individuals capable of making informed and responsible decisions in relation to the environment. The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia emphasized the following: “Environmental education is a dynamic and participatory process oriented to the formation of critical and reflective individuals, with capacities to understand the environmental problems of their local, regional and national contexts” <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Muhamad (2021</xref>). She explained the importance of youth at a global level to fight climate change. </p>
				<p>Once environmental education has been worked on, its essence lies in forming an environmental culture, which according to the authors of this paper refers to the set of values, beliefs, attitudes and practices related to the protection and conservation of the environment. </p>
				<p>In this regard, the <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">National Water Commission of Mexico (2021</xref>) stated: </p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>Water Culture is a set of values, attitudes, customs and habits that are transmitted to an individual or a society to create a responsible awareness about the rational use, the importance of water for the development of every living being, the availability of the resource in its environment and the actions necessary to obtain it, distribute it, dislodge it, clean it and reuse it. (p. 2)</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>It implies a deep connection and active concern for the protection of natural resources and the promotion of sustainability. “The current environmental crisis demands concrete actions to foster an environmental culture in society” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Betancourt &amp;Correa, 2021</xref>, p. 121).</p>
				<p>An environmental culture is urgently required to rethink the habits and behaviors of all human beings, actions that materialize in favor of the environment and all forms of life, understood as a process that starts from the analysis of environmental problems and offers proposals that should be aimed at identifying the degree of environmental knowledge, attitudes or representations that groups of school or university students have about the state of the environment. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">Medina &amp; Páramo 2014</xref>, p. 54)</p>
				<p>In all this process, which is pedagogically oriented, it is largely about protecting one of the most valuable resources, water, which is a strategic action to ensure human and ecological well-being in the face of global challenges such as climate change, population growth or water scarcity. It implies the efficient and rational use of water resources in terms of both quantity and quality. “Environmental education has foundations that allow the protection of water” (Water, 2021).</p>
				<p>There are many criteria about the use of water, in this sense to connote the importance it has since not all human beings act with due awareness in this regard.</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>Water, as the most vital resource for our existence, is a vector of development and an indicator of people's quality of life. Therefore, its conservation and care is crucial from all perspectives, where environmental education plays a fundamental role. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Zarza, 2021</xref>, p. 1)</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>Environmental culture is developed through education, personal experience and interaction with the environment. It should be taken into account that the promotion of this type of culture can be built in the individual from early stages of his or her formation, which means that water protection requires an integral and integrated management that involves all social and institutional sectors related to water. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Orduña, 2024</xref>, p. 6)</p>
				<p>However, it does not consider the transition from the theoretical level, that is, from the simple disposition towards a transforming behavior, consistent with what has been received, which shows the balance between the internal and the external, taking into account that the student can be apt to do and not do it.</p>
				<p>In light of the above, educational institutions have the opportunity, but also the duty, to educate committed, critical and active citizens capable of leading sustainable lifestyles and exerting a positive influence on their families and communities. It is in this context where education emerges as a powerful, transforming, encouraging and optimistic tool; capable of sowing the seeds of change and cultivating a new environmental awareness, through the effective and deep incorporation of environmental education in the curricula with teaching methodologies coherent with the present and the seriousness of the environmental crisis. (United Nations (UN), 2023).</p>
				<p>These aspects are considered important to deploy a positive action aimed at environmental protection where water is prioritized for being the one that gives life, starting from the formation of environmental culture as a fundamental space in which the performance of this student will take place in interaction with other biotic, abiotic and socioeconomic factors, abiotic and socioeconomic factors, in a repeatable time, which requires considering it as cognitive, educational and developmental in a totalizing sense and its concretion in a way of acting for individual and social transformation. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Ortuste, 2022</xref>, p.15)</p>
				<p>The environmental culture for the protection of water resources, will allow learning to acquire a complex character, where students are able to critically analyze various social and environmental problems, however “argumentation has been little developed in primary and secondary school contexts, placing it then in a priority practice in higher education, which justifies the various difficulties in training children and young people” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B22">Zona &amp; Marquez, 2019</xref>, p. 81). </p>
				<p>Correspondingly, the Curricular Strategy of environment or environmental education (Universidad de Oriente, 2015), refers to the need for a holistic approach during the treatment to environmental issues; more when there are problems in this sense natural and social related to the modes of behavior, however, despite the demands in the pedagogical practice there are insufficiencies in correspondence between the theoretical knowledge that students possess and the behavior they assume in favor of the care and protection of water in the environments where they perform their teaching practice activities. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">Maydata, 2017</xref>, p. 12)</p>
				<p>From educational research, it is necessary to contribute to the development of an environmentalist culture in primary teachers in training, with the objective of generating environmental awareness and commitment from the initial stages of their professional training. In this direction in the Professional Model of the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education (Plano Estudios D, 2010). For <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Martínez (2016</xref>), as for many, the vision of possessing an environmental culture is essential; they state: “it is oriented in the general objectives, that the student is capable of acquiring a system of knowledge, habits and skills related to environmental education in a reflective and valuative way” (p. 51).</p>
				<p>In view of the above, the Study Plan D is also outside the central unit, also fulfilling the development of the Bachelor's Degree studies which are developed in the municipalities through the courses by meetings in the Municipal University Centers (CUM) and also through the daytime activities in the “Casas Madres” in the main cities of the provinces, which facilitates that once graduates can have the belief given their academic training to protect the water resource using the combination of theory and practice from their own way of feeling, and act, favoring an adequate professional performance: urban and rural contexts that do not cease to be their spheres of action. </p>
				<p>In the opinion of the authors of this article, at the present time, the training of university students in pedagogical careers acquires greater relevance, due to the transformations taking place in the university itself, in primary education, for which they are being prepared and in the society in which they are developing. The importance of this whole research process coupled with the development of research by other authors on the same problem about the formation of environmental culture for teachers in training lies precisely in the intention of having a working tool for further research in which it is necessary to use the proposed strategy with its phases and evaluative indicators where it is accessible for its introduction and generalization of other results.</p>
				<p>The above synthesizes the need to develop this scientific article to promote environmental culture to achieve the protection of water resources in primary schools and in the communities where they are located. The research process presented in this article had as general objective: the implementation of a pedagogical strategy to develop environmental culture with a view to contribute to the protection of water resources by teachers in training at the San Luis Municipal University Center in the province of Santiago de Cuba.</p>
				<p>It had more specific objectives which were:</p>

				<title>Development</title>
				<p>Theoretical foundation</p>
				<p>The results provided in this research have been very positive, reliable and valid in order to contribute to the protection of water as a natural resource but sustained in the formation of an environmental culture where students in training from their jobs contribute to this significant work in order to protect life in its essence. Undoubtedly, the proposed objective is linked to the results from the achievement obtained, a redundant aspect in the development of other research on environmental education and its formation from the pedagogical context. </p>
				<p>In a comparative way, the researches carried out in a great part of the world on the present subject have approached the study of natural resources from the educational institutions, especially those of higher level, with the intention of favoring the sensitization of all the professionals before the environmental problems, characterized by a creative, judicious, proactive and scientific thought.</p>
				<p>Some of the latest exponent researchers from different countries regarding environmental education and the formation of a culture of this type have taken a line quite similar to those presented in this article alluding to the quality and protection of the environment and natural resources; some of these researchers with doctoral theses in their great majority are: <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">González (2013</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B14">Ramos (2015</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Villaverde (2021</xref>),<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Vega (2023</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Ibáñez (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Ryad (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Santos (2024</xref>), <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">UNESCO (2024</xref>) and <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B15">Rey (2024</xref>), among others.</p>
				<p>The above synthesizes that there is a relationship between the previous studies and the one shown by the researchers now constituting a priority at international level where the different authors mentioned have elaborated conceptions, models, methodologies and strategies derived from the scientific research developed, corroborating that, in their writing and styles there is similarity with respect to the protection of natural resources from the formation and work in action unit as part of environmental education; however, a low percentage emphasizes directly on the protection of water resources and the formation of an environmental culture, aspects that make this research very novel.</p>
				<p>It is significant to state that the present research study is part of a doctoral thesis that responds to the Educational Sciences which is being developed by the main author of this article where with all intentionality the relationship between the formation of environmental education and the full environmental awareness for the protection of the water resource is sought, indicative elements that still until now do not cease to be limitations in behavior and its total mobilization on the part of the teachers in training to achieve this water protection culture, taking into account the link between the inducing and executing sphere in unit with the unit with the teachers in training to achieve this water protection culture. still to this moment do not cease to be limitations in the behavior and its total mobilization on the part of the teachers in formation to achieve that protective culture of the waters taking into account the linking of the inducing and executing sphere in unity with the attitudes and values to mobilize towards a full behavior that consolidates the formation of convictions towards the environmental culture.</p>
				<p>Methodology used</p>
				<p>In order to carry out the study, a descriptive study was carried out, predominantly a research sustained by a quantitative and qualitative approach based on the analysis of bibliographic references of books, scientific articles, doctoral and master's theses, as well as the review of Study Plan D. The authors of this work took into account the design of this research, which was to know and evaluate the level of development of the environmentalist culture in the sample of teachers in training.</p>
				<p>At the same time, theoretical methods were used, such as: analysis-synthesis, inductive-deductive, comparison and abstraction, which favored the introduction and analysis of the development of the work and its conclusions. These methods allowed the systematization and analysis of the bibliography, the conceptual interpretation of the empirical data. They were very advantageous in the interpretation of the theories referring to the treated subject, to understand the facts and to deepen in the essential relations of the non-observable processes. </p>
				<p>The implementation of the Functional Structural Systemic Structural method favored the development of each of the parts of this research process, which was concretized in this scientific article where, from the whole to its parts, several core aspects were conceived for its better concretion, observed in the harmonic combination of its methodological structure and the operation in practice given the strategy of each one of them. </p>
				<p>The empirical methods were represented by the structured questionnaire and the direct observation of the pedagogical practices of the teachers in training in order to establish the established diagnoses and their results before and after the pedagogical strategy was introduced.</p>
				<p>Selection of the population and sample:</p>
				<p>The study population was the 10 schools of the Consejo Popular Capitán San Luis as a source of information from the municipality itself with a total of 30 teachers in training for the bachelor's degree in primary education.</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>A sample of 25 teachers in training for the bachelor's degree in primary education was selected.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>The sample was selected in a non-probabilistic way, using the convenience method, which implies that available and accessible participants were chosen for the research.</p>
						</list-item>
					</list>
				</p>
				<p>Stages for the development of the strategy</p>
				<p>The proposed pedagogical strategy seeks to integrate environmental education into the teacher training curriculum, promoting critical reflection, awareness and action in relation to water protection. It was based on participatory, experiential and contextualized approaches that promote meaningful learning and the transfer of knowledge to real situations. </p>
				<p>This pedagogical strategy consisted of several stages: </p>
				<p>Objective: To organize in a scientific way the strategic process for the protection of water resources. </p>
				<p>The stages of the strategy were</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="order">
						<list-item>
							<p>Initial diagnosis</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Theoretical training, </p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Curricular analysis and development of actions</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Practical experiences, </p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Accompaniment and evaluation (final diagnosis). </p>
						</list-item>
					</list>
				</p>
				<p>Initial Diagnosis Stage</p>
				<p>Following the empirical methods, the diagnosis was carried out on the sample under study, which consisted of 25 teachers in training under the best conditions to obtain the desired results. The questionnaire was administered to them, ensuring that it was answered individually and anonymously. A clear and detailed explanation was provided on how to complete the questionnaire and possible doubts were clarified.</p>
				<p>At this stage, it was identified that the teachers in training had an average level of environmental culture with respect to water resource protection; although they showed a certain awareness of the importance of water conservation, there were limitations in terms of specific knowledge, practical skills and committed attitudes where their behavior was not participatory in terms of full interaction between theory and practice.</p>
				<p>Several factors were known that influenced the behavior of teachers in training in this career in relation to water protection, such as: teacher training, personal attitudes and values, availability of resources, institutional support and awareness of the importance of the resource. </p>
				<p>Partial conclusions: In general, although adequate theoretical knowledge and positive attitudes towards protection were observed, there were still challenges in the implementation of sustainable practices and the integration of environmental education in the school context capable of forming an environmental culture towards the protection of water resources. These findings are consistent with previous studies that highlight the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge.</p>
				<p>Theoretical training stage</p>
				<p>In this stage, a training activity was provided to teachers based on the results of the initial diagnosis to provide them with the fundamental knowledge about the importance of water protection and the associated challenges, as well as to provide them with the knowledge about the importance of water protection and the challenges associated with it.</p>
				<p>Protection and the associated challenges and how to develop actions. During this stage, workshops, lectures and discussion activities were organized in which topics such as the importance of water as a vital resource, scarcity and pollution problems, and protection strategies were addressed, as well as case studies and practical examples that illustrated the relevance of the subject in the local and global context.</p>
				<p>Stage of curricular analysis and development of actions </p>
				<p>This stage involved the curricular integration of environmental education in the teacher training curriculum. The most relevant subjects and areas of study for addressing water protection were identified, and activities and projects were designed to enable the teachers in training to apply the knowledge acquired in practical situations. For example, in the subject of Natural Sciences, experiments and laboratory practices were carried out that addressed topics such as water quality, filtration and purification.</p>
				<p>In the subject of Environmental Education, community research projects were carried out that involved the trainee teachers in identifying and solving problems related to water in their environment. </p>
				<p>The curricular analysis was also extended to other subjects, such as Language and Literature, Mathematics, and Social Sciences, where critical reflection and effective communication on the subject of water protection were encouraged. For example, in Language and Literature, debates were held and argumentative essays were written on the importance of protecting this resource and possible solutions to the associated problems. In Mathematics, data analysis activities were carried out on water consumption in the community and its relationship with environmental sustainability.</p>
				<p> In Social Sciences, social and cultural aspects related to water use and management in different contexts was explored.</p>
				<p>Stage of practical experiences</p>
				<p>Practical activities outside the classroom were encouraged, such as visits to water treatment centers, nature reserves or communities that have implemented successful water protection practices. These experiences allowed the teachers in training to put their knowledge into practice and establish real connections between theory and practical reality.</p>
				<p>Accompaniment and evaluation stage</p>
				<p> During implementation, tutors or supervisors will be assigned to provide guidance and feedback to the trainee teachers. The authors of this research were responsible for conducting classroom observations, reviewing and evaluating the activities developed, and providing recommendations for improving teaching and learning. In addition, periodic evaluations were conducted to measure the progress of the teacher trainees and to make necessary adjustments to the strategy. The evaluation proceeded on the basis of the aspects listed below: </p>

				<p>To define the results as high, medium and low levels, the individual results were compared with the standards established for each indicator; previously defined criteria were used that indicate score ranges for each level of development of the environmental culture in the specific variable of water resource protection. Thus, the results were classified as follows:</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>High level: participants obtained a score indicating solid theoretical knowledge, positive attitudes and values towards water protection, as well as sustainable practices and behaviors related to its use and care.</p>

							<p>Average level: Participants who showed this level in the indicators evaluated demonstrated acceptable knowledge and awareness, although with room for improvement in some specific areas.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p> Low level: Participants in this indicator reflected insufficient knowledge, unfavorable attitudes, and inadequate practices regarding water protection</p>

				</p>
				<p>The data collected were analyzed in an integrated manner and triangulated to obtain a complete and enriching view of the environmentalist culture of the teachers-in-training in relation to water resource protection.</p>
				<p>Main results</p>
				<p>From the implementation of the pedagogical strategy through its different stages, the results were the following from the empirical methods such as the structured questionnaire and the direct observation of the pedagogical practices of the teachers in training, </p>

							<p>Theoretical training-There was an adequate acceptance of the training received by the teachers in training, which resulted in an acceptable behavior in the development of the workshops, allowing them to be sensitized to be able to implement in their classes the protection of water resources. And to go forming an environmental culture.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Curricular analysis and development of actions--- The analysis of the programs corroborated that there was a lack of specific actions to be able to establish a relationship between the content, which allowed curricular adjustments to be made to treat it in the teaching-learning process. The actions from each of the subjects allowed for the care of the coexistence environment of each student and the protection of water. </p>

				</p>
				<p>Accompaniment and evaluation--- The follow-up process by the researchers to each of the actions mentioned brought about significant changes in the behavior of the teachers in training towards their students by observing empathy, socialization, exchange and active participation in each of the activities. </p>
				<p>Final diagnostic stage</p>
				<p>After the implementation of the pedagogical strategy, it was observed that the results showed significant progress in all the dimensions evaluated, demonstrating the effectiveness of the intervention in the formation of the environmental culture that is the essence unified to the protection of water resources.</p>

							<p>In relation to knowledge, it was found that the teachers in training acquired a greater mastery of concepts related to water conservation. They now have a more solid understanding of the water cycle, the importance of its responsible use, the consequences of its contamination and the need to promote its conservation.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>In terms of practical skills, a substantial development was observed, as 100 % of the trainee teacher’s demonstrated greater mastery in the implementation of concrete techniques and practices for water conservation. <title>Conclusions</title>
				<p>The theoretical aspects that are collected in the introduction, as well as in the first part of the rationale contributed to be able to consider that there have been several studies related to the protection of the environment and with it the protection of the water resource so valuable for the very existence of living beings on Earth. </p>
				<p>In a successful way and with the combination of theoretical and empirical methods based on the Functional Structural Systemic, the desired objective was achieved with the instrumentation of a pedagogical strategy applied to develop the environmental culture by the teachers in training of the Municipal University Center of San Luis in the province of Santiago de Cuba in order to contribute to the protection of the water resource where the mobilization of students for this purpose was achieved in a theoretical and practical way. </p>
				<p>Under the same conditions, the protection of water resources as part of the environment was promoted, contributing to society and sustainable development from the relationship of dependence and interdependence between theoretical training, curricular analysis and the development of actions, achieving practical experience with greater development of motivation and entrepreneurship to act from the interests and willingness to preserve life on Earth. </p>
				<p>The above aspects corroborated the relevance of the development of pedagogical skills to address the issue of water protection effectively in the classroom, adapting strategies and educational resources to the needs of students but in a much more creative way from the curricular to the extracurricular, encouraging critical reflection and awareness of environmental issues related to water, promoting responsible attitudes and commitment to its protection not only to students but leading to the active participation of teachers in training in concrete actions to protect water in their personal, educational and community environment.</p>
