			<title>Introducción</title>
			<p>Existe en Cuba un legado cultural haitiano (LCH). Expresión cultural de esa cosmovisión, que denota un proceso de inserción, precedente y latente, que a su vez es un proceso de reproducción social, porque varias redes de relaciones se han encargado de mantenerlo y transmitirlo. Ello constituye una oportunidad para la formación académica, cultural y política-ideológica de los estudiantes universitarios de las carreras de Ciencias Sociales y Humanísticas, así como a la formación de valores éticos y morales.</p>
			<p>Su estudio demuestra la insuficiencia en el aprovechamiento de la potencialidad que posee el LCH y en el tratamiento efectivo desde la política en el proceso de inserción de esa cultura en la cultura receptora; permeado, de manera subjetiva, por el aspecto de exclusión que sufrieron los descendientes de haitianos, y esa misma concepción y representación. </p>
			<p>Con la creación de la Casa del Caribe en Santiago de Cuba en 1982 se inician los estudios para el conocimiento y balance de las relaciones culturales entre la inmigración haitiana y la cultura popular tradicional cubana. </p>
			<p>Investigaciones como las de <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Espronceda (2002</xref>) y <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">Guanche (2015</xref>) transitan por lo comunitario, a partir de las reflexiones en torno a la propia inmigración y su repercusión en la estructura familiar, la religión como componente de la identidad cultural y en relación con la cohesión comunitaria de inmigrantes haitianos y descendientes. Se desarrollan -con mayor o menor intensidad- desde perspectivas etnográficas, antropológicas, históricas y sociológicas, con énfasis en la sociología de la cultura, cercanas a la realidad cubana.</p>
			<p>Los resultados de investigaciones realizadas por estos autores indican que los elementos culturales haitianos constituyen la unidad de referentes, patrones de comportamientos, prácticas y símbolos que nos caracterizan al ser resultante de un proceso de transmisión cultural en el que la educación juega un papel trascendental.</p>
			<p>Los estudios realizados tanto a nivel internacional como nacional lo corroboran definiendo la principal tarea del docente en tal proceso, según el contexto. Estos estudios se sistematizan en investigadores como <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl´ Innocenti (2008</xref>); <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">González y Rivera (2019</xref>); y <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Espinoza et al. (2021</xref>) al analizar la transmisión de la cultura como eje del quehacer pedagógico, en el sentido de que visualizan a la cultura como un recurso de poder y fuente fundamental de conflictos, en un espacio donde la educación tiene el rol de actuar como herramienta, promotora y gestora del crecimiento cultural. Ello ubica el proceso de transmisión del LCH en el escenario del proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje propiamente dicho.</p>
			<p>La superación del insuficiente aprovechamiento de la potencialidad formativa que posee la transmisión del LCH, dados sus efectos socializadores como proceso esencialmente educacional, demanda su afrontamiento multilateral como problemática, no solo por la existencia de contextos diferenciados a nivel de escuela, familia y comunidad, sino además por la amplísima diversidad de contenidos y formas de implementación de la actuación educativa. </p>
			<p>Por tanto, además de dar cuenta de la problemática existente en relación con este asunto, el objetivo abarca la formulación de una propuesta de tratamiento de contenidos para el perfeccionamiento del sistema de conocimiento en carreras universitarias de ciencias sociales.</p>

			<title>Desarrollo</title>
			<p>Para el desarrollo del presente trabajo fueron empleados varios métodos de investigación científica entre los que se encuentran el análisis bibliográfico y de documentos, entre otros.</p>
			<p>Estos métodos permitieron realizar una sistematización de las principales literaturas relacionada con la transmisión del legado haitiano en perspectiva sociológica de la educación y de la cultura.</p>
			<p>Con respecto a este particular, es importante destacar que el haitiano, en tanto objeto y sujeto del proceso de influencia cultural mutua, tuvo en diversas etapas comportamientos de defensa de sus hábitos, costumbres, creencias, etcétera, ante la agresión, sojuzgamiento y discriminación sistemática a que estuvo sometido durante años por otros integrantes de la sociedad hasta el triunfo de la Revolución cubana. </p>
			<p>Aun cuando mantuvieron una tendencia hacia una forma de vivir defensiva, autoformadora, encerrada en sí misma respecto al resto de la sociedad, no fueron totalmente ajenos a la asimilación creativa de la realidad circundante, de los avances de la economía, la ciencia, la tecnología, la cultura, en fin, del desarrollo de la sociedad cubana. </p>
			<p>Es bastante frecuente en la literatura la alusión a las visiones negativas que alrededor del haitiano se conformaron durante la primera mitad del siglo XX como expresión clasista de exclusión social de cualquier diversidad frente a lo establecido por la dominación existente.</p>
			<p>Como preámbulo, al estudio de las tradiciones de inmigrantes haitianos en Guantánamo se hace necesario incursionar en el término legado cultural. Refiere <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">García (2023</xref>) que es el resultado de la transmisión de conocimientos, prácticas, valores y costumbres de una generación a otra. Esta transmisión puede ser a través de la educación formal e informal, la familia, la religión, la literatura, entre otros medios. </p>
			<p>La <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">UNESCO (2024</xref>) lo asume en su valor patrimonial, cuyo contenido “abarca mucho más que monumentos y colecciones de objetos. También comprende tradiciones y expresiones vivas (…) y las prácticas relacionadas con la naturaleza y el universo” pues “es legado de nuestros antepasados que se transmite de generación en generación” (p. 1).</p>
			<p>En Cuba las instituciones culturales juegan un papel crucial en la transmisión del LCH a través de actividades, exposiciones y programas de intercambio cultural que han contribuido a visibilizar esta herencia. Tales iniciativas deben ser apoyadas por políticas educativas más sólidas que integren el LCH de manera sistemática. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">González, 2021</xref>)</p>
			<p>Los guantanameros identifican los aportes de la cultura haitiana en la religión, la música-danza y la culinaria - en ese orden de importancia, infiriéndose su relación con las festividades populares, donde se vinculan además costumbres, mitos, leyendas, comportamientos, relaciones interpersonales, de parentesco, vecindad, amistades y pensamientos. Ello manifiesta los resultados del condicionamiento sociológico que ha tenido la trasmisión del LCH en nuestra realidad, desde su origen histórico hasta la actualidad, al mostrar los sucesivos estados de la sociedad cubana incrustados en el devenir socializador mediante el que transcurre esa transmisión como proceso formativo a través de sus medios y fines.</p>
			<p>La transmisión de este legado cultural es un proceso fundamental en la educación de las sociedades humanas. Al respecto se debe “pensar en el concepto de transmisión de la cultura y a considerarlo como una propiedad invariante de todo proceso educativo” pues “pensar la educación como transmisión de la cultura es darle un significado y también un sentido” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl´ Innocent, 2008</xref>, p. 33).</p>
			<p>De ahí la necesidad y pertinencia de realizar una lectura sociológica orientada a captar lo social que condiciona dinámicas sociales, estructuras familiares, instituciones educativas y contextos culturales que influyen en la manera en que se transmite el LCH, así como la importancia de este proceso en la formación de identidades colectivas y en el desarrollo social por la relevancia que tal legado contiene, como recurso para el desarrollo de comunidades en las que este se presenta como una oportunidad a jerarquizar. Se trata, por tanto, de un proceso que trasciende la transferencia de conocimientos, tradiciones y valores de una generación a otra.</p>
			<p>La transmisión cultural como proceso educativo</p>
			<p>La transmisión cultural contribuye a la enseñanza de valores culturales de una determinada sociedad o grupo social, lo cual conduce a establecer un vínculo o reconocimiento de este proceso con el de socialización. Lo cultural y lo socializador integrado en la realidad del proceso de transmisión del LCH demanda, para su comprensión, la integración de dos enfoques sociológicos que se corresponden con la Sociología de la educación y de la cultura para captar la complejidad de tal relación social.</p>
			<p>Según <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Blanco et al. (1994</xref>):</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>La socialización consiste (…) en la transmisión (y consecuente asimilación y reproducción por el individuo) de los conocimientos, valores, normas y principios socialmente aceptables, o sea, que la sociedad admite como útiles y necesarios, por lo que exige su transferencia a las nuevas generaciones. (p. 9)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Expone igualmente que tiene como objeto de estudio los sistemas de relaciones sociales que se establecen en el proceso de educación, entendido este último como proceso de socialización del individuo y que las relaciones se manifiestan en diversos planos o contextos: la escuela, la familia y la comunidad, y responde al carácter histórico y clasista de la educación. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Blanco et al., 1994</xref>, p. 11)</p>
			<p>El propio concepto incorpora la categoría transmisión expresando desde ya su vínculo con la educación incluyendo lo contextual escolar, familiar y comunitario. De igual manera resulta imprescindible la idea de los principales escenarios que influyen en el proceso y tipos de educación (formal, no formal e informal).</p>
			<p>La transmisión del LCH imprime una particularidad cuando de procesos de socialización se habla. Por un lado, destaca los resultados que demuestran los vínculos intergeneracionales como principales vías. La familia y la comunidad como contextos de excelencia de la educación informal. Desde aquí se ratifica que la cultura haitiana se expresa en sus hábitos culturales tales como el idioma, música-danza, religión, culinaria y costumbres. El sostenimiento de las raíces haitianas se dio fundamentalmente en las zonas rurales fusionándose con el mestizaje ya existente en la cultura cubana.</p>
			<p>No obstante, la escuela constituye un espacio esencial en el que las relaciones sociales se estructuran, reestructuran y se reproducen. Por ello, el acercamiento a la educación formal, resulta de vital importancia para comprender también el modo en que se transmiten contenidos a partir de una preparación consciente para el logro de un fin educativo y la realización de actividades culturales que contribuyen a revelar el LCH desde el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje.</p>
			<p>Limitaciones en el tratamiento del tema en la escuela</p>
			<p>La cuestión radica, según <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl´ Innocent (2008</xref>), en que “las tensiones internas del fenómeno educativo reflejan las contradicciones de la sociedad y están condicionadas por las mismas” (p. 33). En este sentido, se orienta una mirada hacia las universidades y su tarea primordial de comprender cómo la cultura se reproduce a través de las relaciones sociales. Al respecto señala:</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>Como docentes consideramos que la especificidad de nuestra tarea debe centrarse en el proceso de transmisión del conocimiento; es decir, que planteamos la enseñanza como el proceso de transmisión de la cultura. Este proceso permite ‘pasar’ a los alumnos las herramientas necesarias para la posterior construcción autónoma del conocimiento. Sostenemos, al mismo tiempo, que la potencialidad de la educación reside en articular la conservación de los productos culturales con la posibilidad de generar espacios de creatividad y renovación. (p. 34)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Por tanto, es necesario que se visualice la manera en que el proceso de transmisión de la cultura se construye y desarrolla según sus propios momentos histórico-sociales. A su vez, implica el establecimiento de vínculos entre generaciones, desarrollados por relaciones sociales diversas, tanto en la familia como en la comunidad. Ello conlleva a la necesidad de transformación de la práctica educativa, en la medida que el condicionamiento social impulsa un posicionamiento en vínculo con la transmisión cultural en el escenario de origen.</p>
			<p>Aquí resulta esclarecedora la concepción expresada por <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl´ Innocent (2008</xref>) en cuanto a la función que debe asumir el docente en este proceso:</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>Ante la dificultad para asumir la asimetría del vínculo y la inevitabilidad de algún nivel de imposición simbólica en la transmisión de la cultura, muchos docentes limitan su tarea a motivar, interactuar, acompañar, compartir experiencias de aprendizaje con los estudiantes. La interacción no excluye al conocimiento, pero éste adquiere un valor instrumental. Esta representación social impacta en el concepto de transmisión, impacta en la práctica: a veces, sostener que el docente es portador de un saber es asociado a posturas autoritarias y esto dificulta la posibilidad de asumir que la función docente es transmitir ese saber. (p. 37)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>En este sentido, la universidad, como espacio formal de la transmisión, constituye la institución social encargada de preservar y promover la cultura acumulada por la sociedad. Es en ella donde el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje tiene un carácter sistematizador y planificado, pues expresa las tendencias que prevalecen desde la pedagogía, la psicología, y la filosofía en un contexto histórico social determinado y las relaciones con la comunidad portadora. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">González &amp; Rivera, 2019</xref>)</p>
			<p>Tratamiento de contenidos sobre el LCH en el proceso universitario de enseñanza-aprendizaje</p>
			<p>Al ser Guantánamo una de las provincias con mayor potencial de haitianos y sus descendientes en el país, se toma como referencia a su universidad como escenario por excelencia para la conformación de la cultura local representada en dicho grupo étnico y visualizar la transmisión del LCH en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje que en este centro transcurre.</p>
			<p>Aquí se considera que los contextos donde hubo mayor migración marcan también el tratamiento a la temática desde los currículos propios y/o optativos electivos en uso. En una indagación realizada en la Universidad de Guantánamo se pudo apreciar un mayor tratamiento al contenido de la transmisión del LCH en las carreras de corte social dígase, Historia del arte, Educación artística, Sociología, Gestión sociocultural para el desarrollo, entre otras.</p>
			<p>De acuerdo con <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Morandi (2021</xref>), inscribir a la educación, y por ende el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, en el marco de la transmisión del LCH, supone asumir algunas cuestiones:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>esta tarea no debe ser asumida desde una voluntad (consciente o inconsciente) de cosificación de los jóvenes. debe ser una exigencia de una nueva concepción pedagógica.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>que los procesos de transmisión se dan en el vínculo entre generaciones, para lo cual es fundamental que las generaciones preexistentes se constituyan en referentes de autoridad, que puedan ser reconocidas como tales por las nuevas generaciones. (p. 12)</p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>Este contexto universitario, permite identificar algunos desafíos centrales del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, en las que adquiere sentido y direccionalidad la tarea del docente. Lo primero es que remite a la necesidad de pensar la relación de la enseñanza-aprendizaje con los procesos de transmisión y selección del legado cultural en el contexto de redefinición de la relación educación - sociedad y la asunción de una perspectiva política que reconoce a la educación como derecho. Lo segundo, problematizar los procesos de construcción del conocimiento en los procesos de transmisión del LCH. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Morandi, 2021</xref>)</p>
			<p>Teniendo esto en cuenta, se propone como la salida inmediata a un tratamiento de contenido relacionado con estas cuestiones, a la asignatura Panorama del Desarrollo Sociocultural Guantanamero del currículo Optativo/Electivo, ubicado en el Plan de Estudio E de la carrera de Gestión Sociocultural para el Desarrollo. </p>
			<p>La asignatura permite a los estudiantes propiciar el estudio del desarrollo sociocultural de la localidad, incluyendo de la Cultura Popular Tradicional como patrimonio genuino del pueblo cubano. </p>
			<p>La misma responde a la necesidad de que, en su formación profesional, se incluya la capacidad de revitalizar y rescatar las tradiciones populares de la cultura cubana y, en particular la guantanamera; e insertar la cultura popular tradicional en los nuevos proyectos culturales como vía de mantenimiento de la continuidad de nuestra cultura nacional, sustentada en una consecuente labor científico-investigativa y una actitud de compromiso con el desarrollo social, de gestión, promoción y trasformación sociocultural.</p>
			<p>La propuesta dada para el perfeccionamiento del sistema de conocimiento permite:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>Conocer los principales acontecimientos que marcan la historia de la cultura haitiana en la región guantanamera e influencias en su desarrollo sociocultural.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Aprehender los sistemas de valores culturales haitianos a lo largo de la evolución histórica de la humanidad hasta nuestros días, a partir del estudio y comprensión de los componentes de la cultura popular tradicional.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Decodificar las expresiones y manifestaciones de la cultura haitiana en sus aspectos formales, técnicos y de contenido.</p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>Para una vez egresados ser capaces de:</p>
			<p>
				<list list-type="bullet">
					<list-item>
						<p>Analizar críticamente una determinada realidad histórico-social y artístico-literaria.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>

					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Identificar los valores históricos y artísticos de la comunidad portadora para promover su desarrollo y contribuir al rescate cultural y a la reafirmación de su sentido de pertenencia.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Integrar las tendencias artísticas de una comunidad portadora a otros contextos.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Valorar cómo la integración de los valores artísticos y culturales de una comunidad portadora del LCH, creados en un contexto histórico dado contribuye a la conformación de su patrimonio y a la reafirmación de su identidad histórico-cultural.</p>
					</list-item>
					<list-item>
						<p>Seleccionar métodos y procedimientos para análisis críticos e investigaciones históricas o artísticas y para dictaminar sobre calidad y significación dentro de una misma manifestación o un grupo folclórico portador de las expresiones haitianas.</p>
					</list-item>
				</list>
			</p>
			<p>Avanzar en esta dirección resulta importante ya que actúa como un vínculo con el pasado, permitiendo conectarnos con nuestras raíces y comprender cómo hemos llegado a ser lo que somos hoy, ya que la “herencia cultural brinda la posibilidad a las generaciones jóvenes de reconocerse en una historia, una genealogía, una pertenencia desde donde configurar la propia subjetividad” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl´ Innocent, 2008</xref>, p. 30).</p>
			<p>Por ello, a través de la preservación de tradiciones y costumbres ancestrales, se puede mantener vivos aspectos importantes de nuestra historia. Por tal motivo, el legado cultural como patrimonio es una fuente de inspiración y creatividad para las generaciones presentes y futuras, su preservación contribuye al desarrollo sostenible y al fortalecimiento de la identidad nacional e internacional.</p>

			<title>Conclusiones</title>
			<p>En Cuba existe un LCH constituido como unidad de referentes, patrones de comportamientos, prácticas y símbolos, cuya transmisión cultural, en tanto proceso educacional con efectos socializadores relevantes, muestra dos estados de sociedad cubana: uno anterior al triunfo de la revolución como resistencia a la exclusión social de lo diverso frente a la dominación existente; y otro después de 1959 en que se hace más viable la transculturación, aunque debe superar aún inercias dejadas por el orden social anterior o nuevamente reconfiguradas en la nueva realidad social.</p>
			<p>En Guantánamo se identifica el aporte de la cultura haitiana en la religión, la música-danza y la culinaria de lo cual se infiere su relación con festividades, costumbres, mitos, leyendas, comportamientos, relaciones interpersonales, de parentesco, vecindad, amistades y pensamientos. Sin embargo, resulta insuficiente el aprovechamiento de la potencialidad formativa del proceso de transmisión cultural existente en relaciones que se manifiestan en la escuela, la familia y la comunidad.</p>
			<p>Se demuestra que es indispensable y pertinente la realización de una lectura sociológica, en perspectiva educacional y cultural, orientada a captar lo social que condiciona dinámicas sociales, estructuras familiares, instituciones educativas y contextos culturales que influyen en la manera en que se transmite el LCH</p>
			<p>Al dar cuenta del estado de la problemática relacionada con la transmisión del LCH como proceso educacional en cuanto a la formación de valores, se realiza una propuesta de tratamiento de contenidos para el perfeccionamiento del sistema de conocimiento en carreras universitarias de ciencias sociales.</p>

				<title>ABSTRACT</title>
				<p>The article addresses the socializing effect of the transmission of the Haitian cultural legacy when examined from the perspective of the sociology of education and culture. It shows the insufficient use of the training potential of such transmission as a fundamental process in education at school, family and community levels. Hence, the objective is to propose the treatment of different contents for the improvement of the knowledge system in university careers of social and humanistic sciences related to this subject. Bibliographic and document analysis, among others, are used as methods.</p>

				<title>Introduction</title>
				<p>There exists in Cuba a Haitian cultural legacy (LCH). Cultural expression of that cosmovision, which denotes a process of insertion, precedent and latent, which in turn is a process of social reproduction, because several networks of relations have been in charge of maintaining and transmitting it. This constitutes an opportunity for the academic, cultural and political-ideological formation of university students of Social and Humanistic Sciences, as well as for the formation of ethical and moral values.</p>
				<p>Its study demonstrates the insufficiency in the use of the potentiality that the LCH possesses and in the effective treatment from the politics in the process of insertion of that culture in the receiving culture; permeated, in a subjective way, by the aspect of exclusion that the Haitian descendants suffered, and that same conception and representation. </p>
				<p>With the creation of the House of the Caribbean in Santiago de Cuba in 1982, the studies for the knowledge and balance of the cultural relations between the Haitian immigration and the Cuban traditional popular culture began. </p>
				<p>Researches such as those of <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Espronceda (2002</xref>) and <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">Guanche (2015</xref>) transit through the communitarian, from reflections around immigration itself and its impact on family structure, religion as a component of cultural identity and in relation to community cohesion of Haitian immigrants and descendants. They are developed - with greater or lesser intensity - from ethnographic, anthropological, historical and sociological perspectives, with emphasis on the sociology of culture, close to the Cuban reality.</p>
				<p>The results of research carried out by these authors indicate that Haitian cultural elements constitute the unit of referents, behavior patterns, practices and symbols that characterize us as the result of a process of cultural transmission in which education plays a transcendental role.</p>
				<p>Studies carried out both at the international and national level corroborate this by defining the main task of the teacher in this process, depending on the context. These studies are systematized in researchers such as <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl' Innocenti (2008</xref>); <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">González and Rivera (2019</xref>); and <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Espinoza et al. (2021</xref>) when analyzing the transmission of culture as the axis of the pedagogical task, in the sense that they visualize culture as a resource of power and fundamental source of conflicts, in a space where education has the role of acting as a tool, promoter and manager of cultural growth. This places the LCH transmission process in the scenario of the teaching-learning process itself.</p>
				<p>Overcoming the insufficient use of the formative potential of LCH transmission, given its socializing effects as an essentially educational process, demands its multilateral approach as a problem, not only because of the existence of different contexts at school, family and community levels, but also because of the wide diversity of contents and forms of implementation of educational action. </p>
				<p>Therefore, in addition to accounting for the existing problematic in relation to this issue, the objective includes the formulation of a proposal for the treatment of contents for the improvement of the knowledge system in university courses in the social sciences.</p>
			</sec>
			<sec sec-type="results">
				<title>Development</title>
				<p>For the development of the present work, several scientific research methods were used, including bibliographic and document analysis, among others.</p>
				<p>These methods allowed a systematization of the main literatures related to the transmission of the Haitian legacy in a sociological perspective of education and culture.</p>
				<p>With respect to this particular, it is important to emphasize that the Haitian, as object and subject of the process of mutual cultural influence, had in diverse stages behaviors of defense of their habits, customs, beliefs, etc., before the aggression, subjugation and systematic discrimination to which they were subjected for years by other members of the society until the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. </p>
				<p>Even when they maintained a tendency towards a defensive, self-forming way of life, closed in on themselves with respect to the rest of society, they were not totally alien to the creative assimilation of the surrounding reality, of the advances of the economy, science, technology, culture, in short, of the development of Cuban society. </p>
				<p>It is quite frequent in the literature the allusion to the negative visions that around the Haitian were conformed during the first half of the XX century as classist expression of social exclusion of any diversity in front of the established by the existing domination.</p>
				<p>As a preamble to the study of the traditions of Haitian immigrants in Guantánamo, it is necessary to explore the term cultural legacy. <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">García (2023</xref>) refers that it is the result of the transmission of knowledge, practices, values and customs from one generation to another. This transmission can be through formal and informal education, family, religion, literature, among other means. </p>
				<p>
					<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">UNESCO (2024</xref>) assumes it in its heritage value, whose content “encompasses much more than monuments and collections of objects. It also includes traditions and living expressions (...) and practices related to nature and the universe” because “it is the legacy of our ancestors that is transmitted from generation to generation” (p. 1).</p>
				<p>In Cuba, cultural institutions play a crucial role in the transmission of LCH through activities, exhibitions and cultural exchange programs that have contributed to making this heritage visible. Such initiatives should be supported by stronger educational policies that integrate LCH in a systematic way. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">González, 2021</xref>)</p>
				<p>Guantanameros identify the contributions of Haitian culture in religion, music-dance and cuisine - in that order of importance, inferring their relationship with popular festivities, where customs, myths, legends, behaviors, interpersonal relationships, kinship, neighborhood, friendships and thoughts are also linked. This shows the results of the sociological conditioning that the transmission of LCH has had in our reality, from its historical origin to the present, by showing the successive states of Cuban society embedded in the socializing evolution through which this transmission takes place as a formative process through its means and ends.</p>
				<p>The transmission of this cultural legacy is a fundamental process in the education of human societies. In this regard, it is necessary to “think about the concept of transmission of culture and to consider it as an invariant property of every educational process” because “to think of education as transmission of culture is to give it a meaning and also a sense” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl' Innocent, 2008</xref>, p. 33).</p>
				<p>Hence the need and relevance of a sociological reading aimed at capturing the social conditioning social dynamics, family structures, educational institutions and cultural contexts that influence the way in which the LCH is transmitted, as well as the importance of this process in the formation of collective identities and in social development due to the relevance that such legacy contains, as a resource for the development of communities in which it is presented as an opportunity to hierarchize. It is, therefore, a process that transcends the transfer of knowledge, traditions and values from one generation to another.</p>
				<p>Cultural transmission as an educational process</p>
				<p>Cultural transmission contributes to the teaching of cultural values of a given society or social group, which leads to establishing a link or recognition of this process with that of socialization. The cultural and the socializing integrated in the reality of the LCH transmission process demands, for its understanding, the integration of two sociological approaches that correspond to the sociology of education and culture to capture the complexity of such a social relationship.</p>
				<p>According to <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Blanco et al. (1994</xref>):</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>Socialization consists (...) in the transmission (and consequent assimilation and reproduction by the individual) of socially acceptable knowledge, values, norms and principles, that is, that society admits as useful and necessary, and therefore demands their transfer to new generations. (p. 9)</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>It also states that its object of study is the systems of social relations established in the process of education, understood as a process of socialization of the individual and that the relations are manifested in various levels or contexts: school, family and community, and responds to the historical and class-based nature of education (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Blanco et al., 1994</xref>, p. 11).</p>
				<p>The concept itself incorporates the category of transmission, expressing its link with education, including the school, family and community contexts. Likewise, the idea of the main scenarios that influence the process and types of education (formal, non-formal and informal) is essential.</p>
				<p>The transmission of LCH has a particularity when it comes to socialization processes. On the one hand, it highlights the results that show intergenerational links as the main pathways. The family and the community as contexts of excellence of informal education. From here it is ratified that Haitian culture is expressed in its cultural habits such as language, music-dance, religion, cuisine and customs. Haitian roots were sustained mainly in the rural areas, merging with the already existing miscegenation in the Cuban culture.</p>
				<p>Nevertheless, the school constitutes an essential space in which social relations are structured, restructured and reproduced. Therefore, the approach to formal education is of vital importance to understand also the way in which contents are transmitted from a conscious preparation for the achievement of an educational purpose and the realization of cultural activities that contribute to reveal the LCH from the teaching-learning process.</p>
				<p>Limitations in the treatment of the subject at school</p>
				<p>The issue lies, according to <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl' Innocent (2008</xref>), in the fact that “the internal tensions of the educational phenomenon reflect the contradictions of society and are conditioned by them” (p. 33). In this sense, a look is oriented towards universities and their primary task of understanding how culture is reproduced through social relations. In this regard, he points out:</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>As teachers we consider that the specificity of our task should focus on the process of transmission of knowledge; that is, we consider teaching as the process of transmission of culture. This process allows us to 'pass on' to the students the necessary tools for the subsequent autonomous construction of knowledge. We maintain, at the same time, that the potential of education lies in articulating the conservation of cultural products with the possibility of generating spaces for creativity and renovation. (p. 34)</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>Therefore, it is necessary to visualize the way in which the process of transmission of culture is constructed and developed according to its own historical-social moments. In turn, it implies the establishment of links between generations, developed by diverse social relations, both in the family and in the community. This leads to the need for transformation of educational practice, to the extent that social conditioning drives a positioning in relation to cultural transmission in the scenario of origin.</p>
				<p>The conception expressed by <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl' Innocent (2008</xref>) regarding the role that the teacher must assume in this process is enlightening:</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>Faced with the difficulty of assuming the asymmetry of the link and the inevitability of some level of symbolic imposition in the transmission of culture, many teachers limit their task to motivating, interacting, accompanying, sharing learning experiences with students. Interaction does not exclude knowledge, but it acquires an instrumental value. This social representation has an impact on the concept of transmission and on practice: sometimes, sustaining that the teacher is the bearer of knowledge is associated with authoritarian positions and this hinders the possibility of assuming that the teaching function is to transmit this knowledge. (p. 37)</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>In this sense, the university, as a formal space of transmission, constitutes the social institution in charge of preserving and promoting the culture accumulated by society. It is in it where the teaching-learning process has a systematizing and planned character, as it expresses the trends prevailing from pedagogy, psychology, and philosophy in a given social historical context and the relations with the carrier community. (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">González &amp; Rivera, 2019</xref>)</p>
				<p>Treatment of contents on LCH in the university teaching-learning process</p>
				<p>Guantánamo being one of the provinces with the greatest potential of Haitians and their descendants in the country, its university is taken as a reference as a scenario par excellence for the conformation of the local culture represented in said ethnic group and to visualize the transmission of the LCH in the teaching-learning process that takes place in this center.</p>
				<p>Here it is considered that the contexts where there was greater migration also mark the treatment of the subject matter from their own curricula and/or elective electives in use. In an investigation carried out at the University of Guantánamo, it was possible to appreciate a greater treatment of the content of the transmission of LCH in the social careers, such as Art History, Art Education, Sociology, and Sociocultural Management for development, among others.</p>
				<p>According to <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Morandi (2021</xref>), to inscribe education, and therefore the teaching-learning process, in the framework of the transmission of LCH, implies assuming some questions:</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>this task must not be assumed from a will (conscious or unconscious) of reification of young people. it must be a requirement of a new pedagogical conception.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>that the transmission processes take place in the link between generations, for which it is essential that the pre-existing generations become referents of authority, which can be recognized as such by the new generations. (p. 12)</p>
						</list-item>
					</list>
				</p>
				<p>This university context allows us to identify some central challenges of the teaching-learning process, in which the teacher's task acquires meaning and directionality. The first is that it refers to the need to think about the relationship of teaching-learning with the processes of transmission and selection of the cultural legacy in the context of redefinition of the education-society relationship and the assumption of a political perspective that recognizes education as a right. Secondly, to problematize the processes of knowledge construction in the transmission processes of LCH (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Morandi, 2021</xref>).</p>
				<p>Taking this into account, it is proposed as the immediate way out to a treatment of content related to these issues, to the subject Panorama del Desarrollo Sociocultural Guantanamero of the Elective/Elective curriculum, located in the Study Plan E of the career of Sociocultural Management for Development. </p>
				<p>The subject allows students to encourage the study of the sociocultural development of the locality, including Traditional Popular Culture as a genuine heritage of the Cuban people. </p>
				<p>It responds to the need to include in their professional training the capacity to revitalize and rescue the popular traditions of Cuban culture, particularly the Guantanamo culture; and to insert traditional popular culture in new cultural projects as a way to maintain the continuity of our national culture, based on a consistent scientific-research work and an attitude of commitment to social development, management, promotion and socio-cultural transformation.</p>
				<p>The proposal given for the improvement of the knowledge system allows:</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>To know the main events that marks the history of the Haitian culture in the Guantanamera region and influences in its sociocultural development.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>To apprehend the Haitian cultural value systems throughout the historical evolution of humanity until today, from the study and understanding of the components of traditional popular culture.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Decode the expressions and manifestations of Haitian culture in its formal, technical and content aspects.</p>
						</list-item>
					</list>
				</p>
				<p>To be able, upon graduation, to be able to:</p>
				<p>
					<list list-type="bullet">
						<list-item>
							<p>Critically analyze a given historical-social and artistic-literary reality.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Explore the artistic fact from different angles.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Identify the historical and artistic values of the community in order to promote its development and contribute to the cultural rescue and the reaffirmation of its sense of belonging.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Integrate the artistic tendencies of a carrier community to other contexts.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>Value how the integration of the artistic and cultural values of an LCH carrier community, created in a given historical context, contributes to the conformation of its heritage and the reaffirmation of its historical-cultural identity.</p>
						</list-item>
						<list-item>
							<p>To select methods and procedures for critical analysis and historical or artistic research and to rule on quality and significance within a given manifestation or a folkloric group carrying Haitian expressions.</p>
						</list-item>
					</list>
				</p>
				<p>Moving in this direction is important because it acts as a link to the past, allowing us to connect with our roots and to understand how we have become what we are today, since “cultural heritage gives young generations the possibility to recognize themselves in a history, a genealogy, a belonging from which to shape their own subjectivity” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Degl' Innocent, 2008</xref>, p. 30).</p>
				<p>Therefore, through the preservation of ancestral traditions and customs, important aspects of our history can be kept alive. For this reason, the cultural legacy as heritage is a source of inspiration and creativity for present and future generations, and its preservation contributes to sustainable development and the strengthening of national and international identity.</p>
			</sec>
			<sec sec-type="conclusions">
				<title>Conclusions</title>
				<p>In Cuba there is an LCH constituted as a unit of referents, behavior patterns, practices and symbols, whose cultural transmission, as an educational process with relevant socializing effects, shows two states of Cuban society: one prior to the triumph of the revolution as resistance to the social exclusion of the diverse in the face of the existing domination; and another after 1959 in which transculturation becomes more viable, although it must still overcome inertias left by the previous social order or newly reconfigured in the new social reality.</p>
				<p>In Guantánamo, the contribution of Haitian culture is identified in religion, music-dance and cuisine, from which its relationship with festivities, customs, myths, legends, behaviors, interpersonal relationships, kinship, neighborhood, friendships and thoughts can be inferred. However, it is insufficient to take advantage of the formative potential of the process of cultural transmission existing in relationships that are manifested in the school, the family and the community.</p>
